I would have really liked to see this panel, even though it was $45 and a separate ticketed event. You didn't have to have a NYCC badge to attend. However, I already had bought my photo op with Mark Hamill that morning.

In 1977 a princess, a farm boy, a scoundrel, a Wookiee, two droids, an old wizard, and a man in black set us off on a galaxy full of adventure. Forty years later, join an all-star panel of authors to celebrate the legacy of Star Wars with a new anthology that retells the story of Star Wars through the eyes of the background characters and creatures that bring the galaxy to life.
Moderated by Lucasfilm Story Group member Pablo Hidalgo, this unique panel promises fun new insights into the characters and scenes of the film that you think you know, and features a rotating cast of more than a dozen Star Wars authors and contributors, including but not limited to: Ben Acker, Pierce Brown, Adam Christopher, Zoraida Cordova, Delilah Dawson, Jason Fry, Kieron Gillen, Claudia Gray, EK Johnston, Mur Lafferty, John Jackson Miller, Daniel José Older, Mallory Ortberg, Beth Revis, Cavan Scott, Charles Soule, Marc Thompson, Elizabeth Wein, and Chuck Wendig.
A ticket to this not to be missed event includes a New York Comic Con exclusive edition of From a Certain Point of View: A Star Wars 40th Anniversary Celebration, pre-signed by over a dozen of the contributing authors. This edition is extremely limited with only 1,000 copies in print.
Yay for youtube though. The panel is up and it is so funny.
My photo with Mark Hamill came out really nice. My sister's photo is so cute. Mark is touching her chin, like he's lifting it up with the tip of his fingers. She was so giddy about it.
After our long queue and 20 second photo op we went to this panel because we wanted to see Joe Hill:

Humor has no place in dark fiction, right? WRONG. Writing can be dark, gruesome, and weird, and produce something completely unpredictable and startlingly humorous. Spotlighting masters of mixing the macabre and the mirthful M. T. Anderson (Landscape with Invisible Hand), Libba Bray (Before the Devil Breaks You), Joe Hill (Strange Weather) , Danielle Vega (The Merciless III: Origins of Evil) , and Fred Van Lente (Ten Dead Comedians).
I guess I should have looked for updates because Joe Hill was not there. They didn't even explain his absence. I actually can't remember much of what was said. I didn't take notes and my mind started to wander since I was so tired.
After the panel my sister and I split up. She went to Katherine Arden's singing at the Penguin's booth. She got her Girl in the Tower ARC signed. I saved her a spot on the queue for:

Pierce Brown discusses his No.1 New York Times bestselling Red Rising series, including the upcoming book Iron Gold, with Del Rey editorial director Tricia Narwani.

There was an impromptu Q&A before the panel began that is not on the video. I asked Pierce if he would ever write from Sevro's point of view. He answered he didn't know and asked if we would read it. There was a collective "YES" in the room. Pierce asked what form, novel or short story...? I said "anything."
Pierce said maybe he'd write a graphic novel or a pick your (psychotic) adventure novel.
This is on the video (16:30) and one of my favorite parts when Pierce takes a poll of the fans' favorite characters. I think it is too hard to hear but my sister (wanting to be a trouble maker) calls out Roque (18:00). Pierce says "eww" but really I can make arguments in Roque's favor. Not that he's my favorite, but many fans hate him with a passion and I don't agree. Like, he's their most hated villain. Whatever.

Pierce signed my sister's Red Rising and Golden Son copies.
He has said in the past that he doesn't write outlines so she asked him if he does know how he wants Iron Gold to end. He said he does.
So then I brought up the names out the hat story because at the panel (18:15) he said he put everyone's names except Darrow's in the hat, but I remember he said at Barnes and Noble in Feb 2016 that he left out Darrow and Mustang's name.
Pierce said I was right and that I had a good memory. He made a mistake at today's panel.
I brought my artwork that I got from the Kickstarter campaign and the "Legion Recruitment Poster" from Spoke Art.
My Kickstarter pledge reward was a set of 3 (16X20) handmade screen print featuring the artwork of Joel Daniel Phillips, as seen in Red Rising, Golden Son, and Morning Star. Each print comes hand numbered from a limited edition of only 200 copies made.
I got the art unsigned and have been waiting for an opportunity to ask Pierce to sign them. He also dated them.
I asked if Joel will be doing the artwork for Iron Gold and Pierce said that Joel is really busy so he is not sure yet, but he hopes that can.
My sister pointed to the Legion Recruitment Poster and told Pierce that she thinks it looks like sperm and an egg.
This part was hysterical. Pierce said she's a pervert and asked me if she was really like that. Then he took one of her books back and wrote "The Pervert".
That kills me!

NYCC Presents Mark Hamill VIP Experience: New York Comic Con is proud to present a once in a lifetime event, “An Evening With Mark Hamill” on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Hammerstein Theater. Join us as Mark Hamill talks about his life, his loves, his (Joker) laughs, and about his experiences as two different iconic characters in pop culture history.
It took them forever to get everyone into the ballroom and the event started late. I don't know why they didn't start letting people in earlier knowing that there was security to go through.
I think we started about 45 minutes to an hour late, and Mark loves to talk so it went till almost 11 PM. But it was great. (The tickets were my sister's birthday gift to me. Thank you!)
I tried looking for a full video of the evening but I only found some in a few minute segments.
Some people from the audience were invited to sit on the stage with Mark. Most of them were cosplayers. There was a Leia, a Harley Quinn, a Mace Windu, and one woman was Padmé (when she went after Anakin on Mustafar).
I can't remember everything Mark said because he talks so much and there were many good stories. The Q&A went on for a while. Mark gave out signed 8x10's of Luke or the Joker to the people asking questions. Everyone sitting on stage got one too.
Surprisingly I did not pick up any books on this day. I just didn't get much of a chance to see the Exhibit Hall.
