I have to slightly disagree with this statement; As horrible as the sex with Helo was to watch... Helo naked in any way, shape, or form cannot be considered horrible....maybe traumatic and violating, but not horrible. ;}

Haha -yes, I must concede your point. It was sexy AND traumatic ALL AT ONE TIME. Like... at least 3/4 of the sex scenes on this show. SIGH.

I really enjoyed your thoughts on Boomer. And I, too, share your frustration with Adama. Now, I would get it if he said he didn't fully understand how this sleeper thing worked, Boomer had showed herself to be a danger once, and she's been running around with Cavil- who's to say he hasn't played with her programming in a non-innuendo manner? But "she shot me"? Come ON, Bill ( ... )

I'm so glad that I'm not out on a limb here with the Adama frustration!! If this were soon after the shooting, then sure, absolutely he has every reason to be irrational about it, but that was four years ago. And yes, if he had given any of the reasons you mention, or even "I don't like it either but we need this alliance," I'd be fine with that. But since he expects people like Gaeta and the other mutineers to just get past the things that have been done to them, no questions asked, the fact that he can't begin to forgive the one thing that's been done to him personally, by someone who had no control over it, makes me want to smack him.

I hadn't even considered your point about how trying to stop the execution would have been hypocritical, but you're right. The Cylons know they just executed at least two of their "traitors," so to deny them the same right wouldn't go over well. How I wish that's how it had been portrayed!

It's not added for cheap thrills or easy sympathy- it's added as a genuine aspect of her character. That's ( ... )

Yeah. One of my issues with Bill in general recently have been I can see why he does the things he does, but what they're making him say is stupid. They seem to be losing some of the moral gray aspects. I do think the mutineers were villainized a little too much, rather that an on-screen acknowledgment that they had some excellent points. I do think restraining Boomer was a wise precaution, but because she sided with Cavil, not because she shot Adama. I do think it's fine to be wary of the Final Five, but only because they haven't even understood their own nature, not because they're Evil Cylons. I do think you could bring in a supernatural component to Six getting pregnant, but I think the acceptance of mortality and the destruction of the Resurrection Hub is a much better rationale than True Love Based on Stockholm's Syndrome or whatever that was. I think I'm glad BSG's ending in certain ways, because I can see where the show could get really crappy and I don't want it to ( ... )

Last ever Weddle and Thompson episode. If you're a Kara fanatic, odds are they've written many of your favorite episodes; Act of Contrition/You Can't Go Home Again, Scar, Maelstrom; as they were quoted in Bear McCreary's last entry, they took a "proprietary interest" in Starbuck's character early on. But they've also written a whole slew of others: Flight of the Phoenix, Downloaded, Rapture, Revelations, Sometimes A Great Notion - all of which are among my favorites. And unlike Michael Taylor, Jane Espenson, Mark Verheiden, and Michael Angeli, none of their episodes have been tear-your-hair-out clunkers. (Though, all four of those people - yes, including Espenson I guess - have written some utterly wonderful episodes too.) I'd say that they've been, if not the best, the most consistently good writers on this show, and basically, Jacob can blow me.So say we all. *sob* I can't believe this was the last W&T episode. That is just so wrong. (Although I hope that we've already seen the last Espenson and Angeli eps...) I actually got a ( ... )

I actually got a chance to talk to Bradley when we went to walk the picket lines during my last BSG con - he is such a nice guy and he was so encouraging about writing, whether for a show or to publish. Oh wow. I think I might have died of fangirling had I met him, possibly moreso than with Ron. I know one of them has a wife - I think it's Bradley Thompson - who posts as Mexichick on the Skiffy boards, who seems incredibly cool ( ... )

You're definitely not the only one! :)

and I think this particular episode really develops her character more and made her come to terms with her abandonment issues and anger she harbored against her real Dad since childhood.

I agree; and whereas she died at the end of Maelstrom, this episode ended with her listening to her father's music while being there for someone she loves (who may be slipping away, oh no!)

And yeah, I agree with everything you wrote about Kara, especially:

It makes Kara so much more complex and three-dimensional as a character IMO because her emotions are real and oh so human, whatever she turns out to be.(Which I totally don't care anyway cause I will always love Kara/Starbuck whatever she is)*nod nod nod ( ... )

Agree on almost all of that:)

Still love Boomer in spite of her actions. Tyrol, too.

Totally okay with Roslin's actions in this episode because, unlike everyone else, she was acting in the best interest of the Fleet.

The rebels...How they can think charging Boomer with treason is going to help anything is beyond me. And what's with the 6's getting their own individual names? Shouldn't they all be "Natalie"s or "Shelley"s or whatever Caprica's name was when she posed as human?!

LOVED your comments about B&D. Not only did they write most of my fav. BSG episodes but I agree that they have been the most consistent writers in BSG history. I heart those guys:)

Your comment about Kara's committment issues is dead-on and I was so happy to finally understand her need to leave before she's left.

And Sammy better wake up soon!!! I need some shipper *squee* moments before the end of the series and I don't think I'll get them from Tyrol/Boomer or Helo/Athena:)

Good question! I think it's another sign of how they're becoming more individual; before they just had numbers, and when one of them took a name for sabotage purposes, the others would take the same name just to go along. (Aw.) But starting with Caprica, they developed this concept of individuality, and now they all want in on it?

. I heart those guys:)

Wikepedia tells me they wrote Hand of God and Exodus One and Two, too. Shut up, TWoP!

Kara's commitment issues stemming from her father has been something I've thought for a while, so it's really nice to have it somewhat textualized.

And Sammy better wake up soon!!!

WORD. Though I HOPE there will be more Helo/Athena moments before we're done. At least two: one where they get Hera back and the other where she forgives him. LALALALA!
