Hey f-list, how many times would you email someone without receiving a response before you gave up and accepted that they don't want to know you anymore

I have one friend who I'll email maybe twenty times before I get a response but he has a good reason to not be in touch a lot. His internet sucks. When I do get a reply, he sends a huge email and then I don't hear from him for a few months.
Other people I have a three text / email / phone call rule.
If I get no reply after three attempts at communication, I stop trying.
Don't let it get you down, I'm sure they aren't even thinking or worrying about it.
