This story was longer than I planned. As I wrote I estimated it at first 300, then 500, then 1000 words. Luckily I only went 142 over. Of course when the time came to cut, first it was hard, but the closer I got to my goal the easier it was. So I used some of the cuts to flesh out bits that needed a bit more.

I thought I'd do A History of a Story again after I wrote three versions of a story within a story that comes five or six days into the 1001 Nights type tale.

 I've been lazy recently, plotting stories rather than writing, and reading ebooks on my computer. (I realize I shouldn't feel guilty because if you don't read, how are you going to write, but maybe it's the quality of what I've read.)

 I hurt myself, luckily not while working (right before clocking in), so I took an hour off to go to Urgent Care. I've been wearing an wrist brace, while I heal, but the bone I rest my wrist on when using the mouse is bruised.

I sent in my story yesterday. I read the whole thing aloud first and found cliches, misspellings, clunky sentences, etc. that I'd read dozens of times before without noticing.
