Relief

Just got home not too long ago from visiting my friend at the hospital. He was in a motorcycle crash yesterday on I-5 (the one that crashed into the ambulance). I am so relieved that he is alive and will heal. I met him at school in January 2007 at CWU and he quickly became one of my favorites (i.e. someone I still keep in touch with!) He is such a ( Read more... )

You're kidding me, what a coincidence! Do you know him at all?

I met him when we went out for an 80's night, but I didn't really talk to him. My one friend was pretty shaken up last night :(

ZOMG, I hope she's alright. If she hasn't seen him yet, tell her that he is looking alright. He's a bit out of it, but he was talking and being funny earlier today. He is so grateful for everyone's well wishes and prayers. He is so amazing, you would really like him as a friend :)

I am glad he's ok! Motorcycling is srs business. Helmets do "expire" after a few years, always make sure you are wearing one that is DOT approved and still valid. Expensive, but totally worth it.

I totally didn't know about that, thanks for posting that! Why do they expire, just curious. Is it the material?

Yes, the material inside degrades over time and after a few years it isn't able to absorb the impact that a collision would cause. It sort of dries up and cracks and isn't safe anymore!

Was also really glad to see that he was wearing specialized footwear, and am pleased to see that he had on his outer protective layer as well. After watching the Swede race motorcycles, and see what can happen on the track, I would never ride again without a helmet, kevlar or other protective layer, and sturdy riding boots. Even with all that gear, a wreck can be terrible.

My thoughts are with your friend for a speedy recovery...is he taken, or do you know any cute girls you can introduce him to while he has a cast?

I totally agree. I am so happy that he is alright. I am not sure if he is taken but I have a feeling that a lot of his friends will be helping him out while he recovers. Since he also has two broken wrists, he cannot use his hands :(

Oh man! I read about and the picture looked HORRIBLE. I'm glad he's coming out of this as well as he is (but seriously, I couldn't imagine 2 broken wrists. How do you eat??)

I love the helmet message <3

I fed him a little bit at the hospital after his friend left and it was funny because I am only used to feeding babies, so I gave him small pieces of meat and then asked "do you want a larger piece?" and he was all "yes pls!" I don't know what I'd do with two broken wrists AND a broken ankle. I'd go insane. The thing that makes me feel so relieved is that he finished his Accounting degree coursework in the Winter quarter so while he is supposed to walk in commencement in 1.5 weeks at least he doesn't have to worry about finals and not getting the degree.

I have a friend who's son broke both forearms (as a teenager) and she told me horror stories of having to wipe his ass for him.

ZOMG. That's dedication! I told Zach that if ANYTHING ever happened to him I would totally take care of him and NEVER leave his side. If he became para or quadraplegic, I would change his diapers. I hope that never happens to him but in the case of the unthinkable, I will stick to him.
