Just got home not too long ago from visiting my friend at the hospital. He was in a motorcycle crash yesterday on I-5 (the one that crashed into the ambulance). I am so relieved that he is alive and will heal. I met him at school in January 2007 at CWU and he quickly became one of my favorites (i.e. someone I still keep in touch with!) He is such a character and I can't tell you how many times he made entire classes lol. He, along with other friends, is what made my college experience a positive one in the name of socialization and fun memories.
My friend has two broken wrists, a broken ankle (and other bones in that same leg) but otherwise he looks pretty good considering what he has gone through. I thought he would be more tore up in the face but his helmet worked very well. He still has his sense of humor and he has had so many visitors today including Andrea and I. I am just so grateful he is alive. I don't think I can deal with the thought of any of my friends (or family members) dying. I am not good with death.
I posted the link to the story below for the curious. I am respectfully requesting in advance that if you have a negative opinion on the crash, please refrain from commenting here because I would rather focus my energy on positive, healing thoughts for my friend. The news stories published have exaggerated on some points of the story. I am just happy that he is alive and will rehabilitate and chose to dwell on that.
Also, to those on my flist that are motorcyclists: Please wear your helmets and make sure that they are in good shape and are useful in case of an emergency. I care about you guys!
