Well, here it is, March 1st.  Spring starts in 19 days and it is still bitterly cold and there are snow piles over 6 feet deep in places.  I hate Winter.  Why do I live in Wisconsin, again ( Read more... )

Just so long as that side-turn into Sherlock Holmes is a minor rerouting and the roads come back together . . . we seem to be losing lots of M7 folk as of late and it's making me a little - scared . . .

But definitely, enjoy the other fandom - and remember that it's set in a similar enough time period that you might could arrange a crossover. Didn't Holmes want to visit the American West? He could come help Chris rescue Vin from the evil Moriarty . . . .

No worries. I frequently take side trips off the main road of M7. I overdose on something for a month or two then I come back. M7 seems to have been my constant for several years now.

The problem is, I am an extremely voracious reader and there is not enough Vin centric fic generated to keep me satiated. I wander about feasting on other tidbits here and there but always come back to the main meal. When I find a new fandom, I literally gorge myself on everything for the first week or so, until I figure out what exactly I like about that fandom. Then I start to pare down the stories into what I like, finally becoming very choosy about what I will or will not read. After that, it's about sifting and finding the pearls and discarding the rest. I was in the gorge phase of Sherlock Holmes for the last couple of weeks and now I find myself in the sift phase. Eventually, I will be down to reading a story here and there and back to hovering over the M7 stories, waiting for another Vin story to pop up so I can swoop down and devour it. And I'm picky about my Vin stories, too. They have to be well written. There are a few of authors that I just can't read because they are so poorly written, no matter if they are Vin ( ... )

yeah, I have that problem too - I went through BR when I first came into the fandom, reading all the Vin-centric stories and I do have a lot of favorites that I revisit when I have the chance. But I, too, get caught up in new 'bright, shinies' from time to time (most recently Leverage) - always have. I also still dabble in old favorites (UNCLE, Trek) so I do understand momentary distraction.

Not nearly enough new Vin-fic though, but then, would there ever be?
