Fair entries!

Aug 04, 2009 11:21

Woo Hoo! This is so exciting for me. Seriously. I entered two of my sewing projects. I entered the new and improved Yule penguin dress. I made it last October so it qualifies for the "made in the last year" clause. I'm also entering one of my patchwork lady's skirts. I haven't put it together but entries aren't due til the 27th of August ( Read more... )

Yay! Once again, I haven't gotten a round tuit. I can't wait to see your blue ribbons!

What exactly is the submission process? Can't do it this year but I'm thinking about next year. Do you have to live in Lehigh County? What the heck is the premium $ figure for? Do the patterns have to be of your own design?

Oh, that would be wonderful if you submitted! You actually have until Friday to submit for this year (I know you might not be able to but if you can you still have time). It's pretty easy. I was confused too but once I got there it was pretty straight forward.

All you do is take the entry form (and they have them there as well) with you name, and the categories you are entering in to the fairgrounds. They will help you figure out what categories your items would go in if you need help. You do not need to be from Lehigh County. One entry per category but as many categories as you want to enter in. The fee is $10 for all your entries. The premiums are the "prizes." It's just nominal $$. It's really about bragging rights. :)

The patterns don't have to be original but the project does need to have been constructed in the last year.

I thought about it for this year but I don't know if I have anything that's really good enough. I have plans for a real lace shawl that if all goes well I could submit next year. What I should do is check out the sorts of things that get submitted. We never made it past the rides and animals last year.

You know, I've lived in Allentown all my life and last year was the first time I went into the contest area (at Jill's insistence). It was really fun. You have to check out the decorated cakes. Just incredible.

A little spying is good. Then you know what you're up against. I personally don't have high hopes of winning, but from the mead we saw last year, Greg has a really good shot.
