I met the new dietician at my hospital appointment. she was very pleasent and it was a getting to know you meeting. When I explained that I was 20st 11 (US 2991pounds) in January of this year and when weighed right there, I was 18st 12 (US 2976 pounds) She said I was doing very well, considering I had arthitis and hypothyriosim which made exercise ( Read more... )

It does get frustrating, esp. when "Professional" folks don't have a "clue". Every time we get a new Nutritionist at our clinic I have to go through the same BS because:
no one reads the chart
no one reads about the side-effects of antiretroviral meds
no one reads about the difficulties of Neuropathy patients in particular to be "active"

I end up with doing yet another food log for which I get accused of "not being truthful about my Intake". And they Wonder why I now refuse to go to one.....
Cheers,
Pat

What's frustrating is that the only information she has about me is on that one scrap of form I filled in on our first meeting. She has no access to my medical files, none at all. Mind you like you I find that they usually have never read them anyway. So I promised her that I would try and get her access to my files even if I have to get my own doctor to print it out and give them to her ( ... )

Part of me sort of Understands, after all, I used to be a Nurse;>. Looking at a file like mine with 30 yrs of health "issues" is a daunting tast. HOWEVER, in the US there is a cover that lists the main health issues as well as meds and recent labs. There is NO excuse not looking at that!
What gets me is that many simply won't LISTEN or will Ignore info that doesn't go with their Preconceptions. One that really Pisses me off is the Sexual stuff that they admit they don't ask their Het married clients. Chuck and I've been married in my religion for almost 15 yrs yet they'll ask me how many sexual partners I've had since my last appt. Yet, a Het woman with a ring with mult children, NONE who resemble each other will NOT be asked the same question. Her husband must have some effed up Sperm to produce some many children that look nothing like him;>....

Pat

Now that's odd that you should be questioned about your sex life. I'm not, and haven't been ever. Yet I have been single since I was 40. I am now 61 and gave up sex last year. I know my doctor very nearly fell off her chair when I said my arthitis hampered my sex life. I have no idea why? I can't imagine what she was thinking to have been so suprised.
