I like the slightly detached feel of this - Elizbeth's very much the outsider, looking in.

Thank you. I was trying to relate that to the prompt and get across that Elizabeth still wasn't privileged enough to be part of the whole pirate lifestyle yet and felt isolated both from her old life of gowns and braided hair, and yet was still not quite accepted into her new lifestyle.

I love how Elizabeth goes from pity to almost, *almost* envy, and then to understanding. There is a lot of grace (for lack of a better word) in Jack in this story. He's very huggable. And the last line is perfect.

Thank you so much! It really was a lot of fun.

I think that Elizabeth sees a lot of herself in the whore, despite the obviuos differences in their lifestyles and this engenders a lot of different emotions. I'm glad I managed to get that across.

And yeah, I really wanted Jack's gift of the dress to come from him caring about the girl in the tavern and wanting to give her something special.

Wow...just perfect, the last line. I also like the meticulous detail, describing Elizabeth, Jack, and of course the whore. You got the first two down pat and made the third one seem a familiar character.

Jack sure has a preference for ladies fallen from grace. The pirate class was always supposed to be a caricature of upper class society, so he will appreciate the fact that this kind of young lady hides depths and layers of good breeding behind a cheap facade. He's the epitome of pirate, after all, and he has a taste for the rare and unusual.

This story is really deep. Life sure is full of little moments like this one, many notions and ideas triggered sometimes by simple action.

I like to interpret into it that both women are a little bit envious of the other.
