[Freddy's much more casual this go-round; he's ditched the coat and tie and the starchy button-down in favor of just the wifebeater and jeans, and his hair's nowhere close to slicked back and behaving. He looks much more comfortable this way. No cool and suave here, just the "tough guy" act.]

So here's what I don't get.

Everybody gets thrown here. ( Read more... )

Might as well ask if there's rhyme or reason to most governments, pal. There ain't.

[Aaaand you lost him, Claire.]

Who's Malcolm? And what d'you mean, your ability?

[Was there a file on the other Wardens somewhere in his room? He can't remember and now it's bothering him.]

Ohhh okay. That makes sense. Well technically if that's the case nobody can, so they all fit no matter who he gives you. But...I know what you mean.

...So what, you're like Wolverine or something? [Heeee all the amusement and glee. Your geek's showing, Freddy.] Or...Callisto. Or Hawkgirl, but she just doesn't stay dead, she doesn't really...heal.

Yup. Confused the shit out of me because my inmate had spent the better part of his first month pretending to be a warden of a different name.

[His real name, which was the only reason Kay figured out who it was.]

...The CIA guy? [Snicker] Yeah, that sounds about right.

[He rubs at his temple absently before continuing; he is SO uncomfortable about making this request]

Is there any way I could...make sure my status doesn't get out to the masses? I mean...I figure the wardens all know or can figure it out pretty easy, but... I don't need all the inmates finding out first time I get assigned somebody, yanno?

[...Not that it really MATTERS anymore, but. OLD HABITS.]

[That seems like an odd request, but okay.] I don't the the Admiral will avoid telling, but also I think people forget quick or don't care. I've seen some inmates get asked if they're wardens for months. So it depends on the inmate you get and how much they bitch about it.

Something specific you're worried about?

[Meaning...the minute it goes up Pink will probably pitch a stink either way, even if they AREN'T assigned to each other. Great.]

Nah, not really, just figured it was worth a shot asking.

[LIES. Freddy is averse to actual Sharing.]

Thanks, man, you've been a big help.

No angle, just the luck of the draw. Don't you like your warden?

Don't have one. I was just wondering how this Admiral guy figures it out.

Out of a hat or something, probably.

[A giggle. He'd tell you it's a snicker, but really it's a giggle.]

From what I hear, that sounds about right.
