Me too! I was like, "Whoa, WAIT. *rewind. pause. grab hubby & housemate.* Are those CANS?? Like, as in CANS?? SERIOUSLY?"
I do love the Lancelot/Gwen, as well. I was kind of iffy about the Arthur/Gwen dynamic; I thought there might be potential, but then the writers went and rushed the hell out of it. Ruined the whole thing, imo.
I did kind of love Gwen a lot in this ep, too, though. She was awesome.
Also i want Merlin character development XD IT'S HIS SHOW GIVE HIM AN EPISODE OKAY XD.YES. YES YES YES. Actually, I agree with everything you said here - Merlin's the title character, and he's been turned into comic relief! I mean, it's great to see him and Arthur teasing each other and all, but I miss the dynamic from last series, when they clearly meant the world to each other. Merlin obviously still feels that way, but Arthur doesn't seem to. (Also, why was everyone making such a big deal about Arthur setting out to rescue a servant? Isn't that basically what he did when he followed Merlin to Ealdor? WHY DOES NO ONE REMEMBER THAT
( ... )
lol I should hope so, though it's kind of a lame one. (Maybe the boys are pranking again?) But it's amazing that NO ONE caught that, either during shooting or editing or (if it happened) screening. XD
Um, wow. That is just... yeah, let's hope it's a joke.
Gwen being the most important thing in Arthur's life is worse than Merlin being all that Gaius cares for in all this world... when it's obviously Uther for both, ffs.
I would have liked to see Arthur turn to Merlin and say, "Wow, you're just as brave as any of my knights," or something smushy and nice like that because Merlin so deserves it. But they did give us the slashiest of all endings. :P
Actually, through that entire speech of Arthur's, I was totally hearing it as directed to Merlin himself. lol *sigh* I am utterly hopeless when it comes to these boys... But it fits so much better! (Just like I think Gwen/Lancelot works a billion times better than Gwen/Arthur. It makes more sense.)
