Really beautiful and wonderful writing. The memories were really heart warming and sweet and I loved the way Oliver remembered them. They were both so in character. You write both of them very well. And then in the present, while you could see during the pain and at his lowest he was trying to keep it humorous to get through it...it just felt so sad. I mean the words were funny, the internal dialogue, and said under other circumstances a reader would have laughed, but the way you wrote it you almost wanted to cry for him. And then at the same time it was still hopeful. Maybe it was just his hope, but you kind of just got the feeling the he knew her well enough to know it was more then that.

I think deflection and escapism through humor is something Chloe and Oliver share, so it was interesting to make that a happy place of sorts for him - where he forced his mind to go during the worst of it (or even the anticipation of it). Thank you so much for your kind words.

Excellent writing, all the way through. There was flow to the story and you genuinely felt all these wonderful and awful emotions coursing through you. I'm so glad you posted this and hoping you write more soon. For all the fun scenes we've been getting on our tv screens, I wish we could get something so encompassing as this. Props.

I'm right there with you. I feel like we've gotten scraps of what we know to be a mature, adult relationship, but haven't seen the real meat of it. On the one hand, it's frustrating as hell. On the other... we have some truly talented authors in this fandom, and it gives everyone a chance to explore their personal canon and fill in the blanks. More fic is never a bad thing. :)
