Looks like nobody had something to say on the death and The Wire entry, that or very few from my readership (if I still have one) have seen the series (which is a shame) and some of those who have seen The Wire were too busy with RL to spend time on LJ (I know for a fact some are), and others prefer not leave comment on my journal for various ( Read more... )

Hair changing always gives a boost! The hairdresser said that I have a face that suits short hair.

But, look at you, you're all iconless!

Sorry...phone! Doesn't always put them in.

And my brain is mush after many silly errors in essays. 'Je comme la glace' or 'En Angleterre, c'est rhume' or 'j'ai eu un hamburger' or 'j'ai suis allér'

*headdesk*

I really really really agree with you about the comments. I've been on lj for ten years now and have struggled with myself off and on over the years regarding this issue. Definitely the old days of the news groups was more....instantly gratifying? I don't know, I think the specific nature of the news groups helped....maybe journals feel too private? Again, just speculation. I do think 98% of entries require some sort of acknowledgement or else we could just journal off-line, correct? This "struggle" is one of the reasons I've begun again on lj...the last journal was causing me fits because of my feelings about comments.

I don't know The Wire. We did try The Shield last week and it just absolutely positively did not work for us.

I thought last week's Justified was bland and one-dimensional. I am loving Wynn though...

Tell me about it, I have a love/hate relationship with LJ, always had. The journal side is a problem, to me, and many LJ users seem to feel much comfortable on their own territory (of course those people who hardly leave comments on other journals feel normal that the others leave many comments on theirs!) which causes one-way relationships. I don't expect everybody to leave comments on every entry I make (although posting in English is a true effort I make to interact with the English-speaking majority), and I am no suprised when certain entries remain without any comment, but to me, leaving a comment is like waving. It's the little gesture that matters, from time to time, and it's upsetting when it's always the same persons who make it ( ... )

Glad to hear someone else shares my feeling on this. I can be worked into a frothing lather when I mention this and get outraged responses from the flist. Well, you know what - sorry. I ain't going along with that guilt approach anymore. If I see a flister consistently and happily posting all over the flist and never on my own journal, it's time for us to part ways. I've gotten pretty "ok" with that....as to the less obvious non-comments...yeah, some posts don't elicit much, some elicit too much....but a general response that conveys "i read this i'm here you're there the world is still spinning" can mean a lot ( ... )

Yeah talking about LJ and the LJ users' behaviour seems a bit of a taboo on LJ. Truth hurts. I have often been told that such posts are off-putting...

The problem I have with posts about TV shows is that I'm so far behind! I think it's because I wait until they are on the TV in the UK which of course means I can be a whole season behind shows that are on in the US (or being downloaded by my friends list).

I always find it strange when I wash my hair after it has been cut ;)

I know, I know, Karen, you don't do the illegal thing unlike some punks like myself! ;- P

You never watched The Wire when it was showed in the UK? It's really good, but in avery realistic kind of way. That said, not everybody had to have seen it, of course.

Having long hair felt strange, it's like I'm reverting to my one true self, at last. :- )

The problem I have is that I have to share the TV. If it was just me, I would watch all the things I like, but I have to be considerate and sociable.... *grumbles*

Guilty as charged :-( I still have yet to see the Wire, and my mind did go a bit blank on the Death theme and I was left with feeling I didn't have anything interesting to say. I enjoyed reading what you posted, though ( ... )

No FRINGE doesn't usually have Gaeta, but Alessandro Juliani is guest-starring this season. He appeared at the end of the last episode so I guess he would be in the next one as well. The show is daring but very uneven. First season only picked up in the finale, and the second season became really good in its second half. Third season started brillantly and ended...not so brillantly. The fourth season is so-so.

I don't understand the fuss about GoT. I never read the books and didn't find the first season that good. I watched it but wasn't hooked. I think that the most die-hard fans who love it are either people who read the books before and loved the adaptation (even better than the books!) or fans of the fantasy genre.

As HBO tv shows go I prefered Rome (and of course OZ and Deadwood!).

PS: Concerning my issue with LJ and users' behaviour, there's nothing new under the sun, it has been that way for years and it feels like I'm rambling on. In other words it has happened before, and it will happen again. :- )
