Don't you have any medicine for that, though? I'm sure there is something for people who are allergic to cats but have to be exposed to them constantly. It could help you out if you don't want to break the lady's heart.
If the symptoms are strong, then you could try to get some treatment for it at the hospital. It's possible to "get used to the allergen"; in other words, the doctor will inject a small amount of the allergen into your vein for a few years and the symptoms might disappear almost completely. I'm a nurse, I should know these things. But I'm not sure how much they do that to people who don't absolutely have to be around cats.
I don't think there is much to do if that fails. You just have to turn the cat in.
