Just finished watching season 11 of Supernatural for the first time

Favourite episodes included Baby naturally. I’d already heard about how great Baby was, and I’m pleased to say that it more than lived up to expectations there with being an excellent showcase for the brotherly relationship between Sam and Dean, and so cleverly edited. I confess that I had already seen the ‘night moves’ singing clip a few times ( Read more... )

I stopped watching my dvds after Baby so I feel I shouldn't read your post so not to spoil myself.

It is pretty spoilery, sorry! It can basically be summed up as I really enjoyed most of the MotW’s, but the myth arc kind of dragged for me. It seems like nearly half of the episodes these days are focused on the main arc, and that ends up being a lot when you have a 23 episode season

Are you planning on catching up with season 11 soon?

I stopped reading the post when you stopped talking about Baby. As soon as I saw an episode title I said nope, not gonna read any more.

I definitely will. I guess i needed a change of pace since I started from season 1 straight through Baby in season 11. I'm still looking to get my hands on seasons 12-15 as they become available and are at a good price :)

There are so many shows I need to catch up to and so many rewatch I wanna make.

I do wonder if maybe I wouldn’t have felt so burnt out if I hadn’t binge watched the season? I’m not really used to 23 season episodes as much any more I guess, so maybe it would have made a difference if I was watching weekly, instead the pacing really dragged for me after watching a certain number of mythology episodes all one after the other.

And I think that you should be able to watch them online if you wanted too. I was streaming the episodes on Amazon Prime, and I think they’re on Netflix in other countries?

There are so many shows I need to catch up to and so many rewatch I wanna make.

I know the feeling believe me!

I enjoy the MOTW eps more than the arc episodes, and the Amara stuff did drag toward the end, but overall I enjoyed it. I thought Sam and Dean counseling Lucifer and God was funny.

I think I'm someone who doesn't notice stuff - generally - like cheap soundstages or overused locations (I sometimes visit Arroverse forums and people are constantly complaining about locations constantly used on all of their shows and I never notice that) and things like that.

I liked JMI. I realized they couldn't use the same actor to play young Sam so it took some getting used to, but I liked the actor.

I thought the actor did a decent job, but it was just distracting for me after they had used the same actor for young Sam in seasons 3, 4, and 7, so that I really associate him with young Sam, and then they suddenly introduce someone entirely different. I guess that’s one problem with going on for so many years though, it’s hard to avoid younger actors ageing when you want to introduce consistent flashbacks to their childhoods!

And I did think that maybe I need to work harder on suspension of belief lol, for me I just felt like they were getting a bit too ambitious with the storylines that they were wanting to tell with God and Lucifer, and it didn’t really work for me to boil it all down to them trying to be counselled through it by Sam and Dean. It was funny in places, but I guess that it’s just easier for me to buy into the MotW’s than some of those bigger heaven and hell concepts

I barely remember what happened in S11, only that it's probably my favorite of the later seasons and that the overall arc was okay. Baby is such an amazing episode!
I've always enjoyed the MotW more since S6. I don't really care about the season arcs anymore, but I know there are plenty of people who do and think everything else is filler.

By the way: Happy Birthday! ;)

It was strange how much of an about-turn I did with it actually, because I was loving it originally and I agree with you about thinking at first that it was going to be one of my favourite of the later seasons as episode after episode seemed to be a good one, but then I just got really burnt out with the mythology towards the end.
