Basically, if they had hooked up in canon, everyone ever would have been in a pile of mush after each of their scenes because they'd be too sweet to handle.
Truer words were never written! That's probably why they (stupidly) decided to back away from their moments -- the BBC figured they would lose ratings if everyone was reduce to a pile of mush.

late response is late, but they aaaare. They need to share skeptical looks and flail at one another about the successes of the kingdom like they used to. HJFAKFDHA. I would even take only OT3 stuff if it at least guaranteed some bffery for these twooo.
Oh gosh, THEY WERE SO PRECIOUS. I love how they both got rainbows in their eyes around each other, whether it was friendshippy or crush-y, and it took me ages to realise they haven't hugged in canon yet because in my head they do, like, ALL THE TIME.
And I think their relationship really has developed well, from the sweet firstest crush to learning things from each other to the solid bffs they are now.
