Ever consider editing? Writing and editing are 2 very different skills, and appeal to different aspects of a personality, but it does offer a steady career (usually), with the opportunity for some creativity, plus a need for the organization that people who like lists generally have. =)
Still, I'd give freelancing a fair shake -- it takes a while to build up a full-time freelance writing career. Good luck =)
(of course, considering my general discontent with my job at the moment, maybe I shouldn't be encouraging editing!! ;-P)

Hmm...that's an idea I haven't considered. I think I'd be good it, but I wonder if I'd get jealous editing other people's things. Just throwing a bad side of my personality out there.:-) What kind of editing do you do? Why is your job not making you happy now?
You're right, though, that I should give freelancing a fair try. I know if I quit now, I'd feel like I haven't accomplished anything and would still wonder if I could.

You're right, though, that I should give freelancing a fair try. I know if I quit now, I'd feel like I haven't accomplished anything and would still wonder if I could.
