I've figured out what the Dems need to do to win in 2008. Sadly, I doubt any of this will happen, but if they were to do it, we'd not only take the White House, but most likely also a large chunk of Capitol Hill as well

I've thought about it, I just don't know if it's something I could do...I have to be able to hide from the real world sometimes to keep sane. But it's definitely something I'm still considering as an option.
Isn't compiling such a list something that even you or I could do? Have you tried? Would you trust the party "leadership" to honestly and judiciously undertake the task? Do you think this ideal candidate even exists as a present member of the Democratic party? Can any politician have a "squeaky clean" record?? No ties to special interest groups? Isn't that what politics in the US are all about

Of course either of us could easily compile such a list, the reason that Democratic party leadership would need to do it is that without them behind the plan, it's highly unlikely that a candidate would enjoy enough support to pull off this plan. For it to work, there would have to be little competition from other Democratic candidates, and the party itself would have to act as a unit like the Republicans do.
That's what's fantasy about it as well. Party leadership won't undertake anything so risky. That's why this particular strategy won't work, because it's too novel to actually be used. What was encouraging was that if I can think of a winning strategy that won't be implemented, it seems like there's a good chance that influential people in the party might be able to come up with winning strategies that will.
And of course you're not bugging me. I always enjoy talking politics.
I'm not so confident that they might be able to come up with anything particularly better or more viable than you or I could... Maybe I'm cynical; maybe I'm naive.
