At some point in time much later in the day, he'll return and notice this, with a matching expression, and give Ai a somewhat awkward pat on the head. Comfort isn't exactly Scout's forte.]

No, Mass, I AIN'T alright, how can anyone be alright in this goddamn town?! I am so OVER this shit, Mayfield! [That last statement is addressed to the air around him, as if the Mayfieldian powers-that-be are listening.]
