I don't know how the other guys even stand it, honestly. Maybe they build up some kind of tolerance or something.
I keep thinking things about them and then finding somewhere where someone's already said those things. Like, I started getting mental echoes of "The Wall" during Mama, and then I read the All Music Guide review that says exactly that. Or I thought, wow, Gerard kind of looks like a punked-out baby Paul Gross sometimes, and then I saw a picspam post where someone pointed that out. Or even, I was thinking what is it I like so much about the music, and a big part of it is how melodic it is despite the crashing and banging - and then I read your post. I guess I should be encouraged that I'm thinking along the right lines!
Gerard is also fascinating to listen to in interviews. He's verbose and likes his whimsical tangents, but he's pretty articulate when it comes down to it. And also adorable. Very earnest, and both self-effacing and megalomaniac. He's definitely got a Mission, although it's sometimes saving lives, sometimes saving the world, and sometimes he just wants to save rock music from dying of its own boredom. Frank has totally drunk the Kool-Aid by the gallon, so he's the go-to party line talking head if Gerard's unavailable. In interviews with both Frank and Gerard present, Gerard talks the most but every time there's something he doesn't remember, he'll be like, 'Frank? What--?' and Frank will fill in the relevant info pretty seamlessly. There'll be things like, "You know that time--" "Oh yeah!" "With the--" "--that time--" "Ahahah, it was great." "Here's the deal
( ... )
I need to check out more interviews, I think. I went back and watched the other one you linked to and I can see exactly the dynamic you're describing, yeah, Frank nodding along. And I was struck by Gerard saying twice that he really wants to see the audience's reaction to the music - some people say they make music for its own sake just because it's in them and they would play alone on an island or whatever, but it seems so much more deliberate for him, like a means to an end. Intense.
Starbuck love! So totally smoking hot. Especially in the first two seasons. And in the one with the boxing.
There appears to be a meme-ish move towards band-slash at the moment. Something to do with the Supernatural hiatus I think. But I could just think that because of my lemming-like-ness. Which is my way of saying MCR pretty!
Hot like fiyahh! Yay, I am glad we agree on this key point. :)
That is a good point regarding Supernatural, but I wasn't in that fandom either so I'm going to need some other excuse. D'ye suppose the sheer prettiness is excuse enough? 'Cause, like. Cheekbones!
I think the eyeliner and propensity towards extremely pretty and very gay public snuggling is excuse enough for anybody really. Especially now he's a brunette again. Cos. So very very yes.
Fi, he is just THAT PRETTY! Can we take a moment to reflect on this? I mean. Short hair, long hair, with eyeliner, without eyeliner, he just doesn't quit. And I know you know all this already and stuff, and I don't really know why I'm doing this now and not at any other previous time when it was available to me, but, y'know, now. Now. And the sheer earnestness, and making the world safe for queers one kiss at a time, and telling girls to stand up for themselves, and the cuddling, and *flail*. It's kind of overwhelming.
That's amazing, and wonderful. Maybe sometime if we get to hang out I can ask you about that, if you feel like talking about it. I'm very glad he did!
For me, the reason I bought The Black Parade was because of the cancer theme and I, yeah, it really seriously helps me deal. It blows me away with how powerful it is. And that was even before I'd seen very much of the pretty.
