Job applications were a fucking awful thing. They were long, they were tedious and Alex hated that he actually needed a fucking job to be able to help out now that he was home. Should he check his phone at some point between his fucking boring job applications he'd find at least one new text to distract him.

He thought about ignoring his phone when it buzzed because he was right in the middle of faking employment at Disneyland but decided to ignore the job application for a second.

He glanced at his phone and chuckled quietly at that text. Yup. Were you worried?

She'd never admit it if she was, Alex guessed.

A couple of minutes of indecision on Effy’s part, and she followed that text up by keying in his number to call. Apparently she wasn’t interrupting anything too dramatic, if he was able to text.

So succinct and to the point, that text was. Alex smirked and scribbled down a few more things before his phone started ringing. He picked it up after letting it ring a few times.

"You just miss me that much?" He kind of figured it was Effy calling considering she'd just been texting him. "Aww."

It wasn't a day that Lissa went to college, so she - and therefore her guardians - were on the Moroi's normal nocturnal schedule. But it was Rose's night at the guard station which meant she was bored as hell and pondering old times.

That would be why Alex received a text with a picture attached.

When Alex's phone pinged, he picked it up and opened the picture. It made him laugh which meant he had to reply back.
