movie rec: Tatie Danielle...

A week or so ago B and I watched "Tatie Danielle" on the Belgian channel "Canvas". Not a new movie, it's been released in 1990, but I had never heard of it - shame on me. I'm surprised you'd never heard of it. It's such a classic! I saw it on TV so many times when I was young. Btw it was made in 1990, not 1999 ;)

Of course, 1990! Yep, it's amazing that I had never heard of it. To my defense though, the children were very small at the time, and we hardly ever watched TV but the news or went to the cinema in those days. Perhaps it wasn't even released here. It's amazing, isn't it that a movie already that old is still so strong, and still has such an impact. :)

And it's a reference here in everyday life. Tatie Danielle is now an adjective of sort.

LOL I'm not surprised! And you know what? The actress reminds me of my own grand-mother. A rather bitchy type too. Not the sweetheart granny every grand-child likes to have. ... une vraie tatie Danielle! haha
