A week or so ago B and I watched "Tatie Danielle" on the Belgian channel "Canvas". Not a new movie, it's been released in 1990, but I had never heard of it - shame on me. Today I received this movie featuring Colin Firth and Jim Broadbent from the lovely jespe - thank you so much, my dear - and watched it immediately. I've been curious after this one for quite a while. Well, I wasn't disappointed quite on the contrary. It's a very moving story about the loving, but often so troublesome father/son relationship. Yay!!! The movie I liked best last year has won the Bafta award for best film. :D

And... Marion Cotillard the award for best actress. Very well deserved too! She was an impressive Edith Piaf.

...Golden Lion in Venice for her Elizabeth II in The Queen. Can't wait to see the movie. Helen Mirren doesn't play the queen, she IS the queen.

Unfortunately, Paul Verhoeven's "Blackbook" didn't win anything. *sob* Ah well, I'm looking forward to seeing it anyway.
