First, lj newbie question -- I started to use a tag then decided that I don't like it. I've changed it, but it still appears under "tags" in one of my journal's navigation panes. How do I get rid of it?

Since I may as well use this as a "journal" -- I am proud to have started to sing again this month at a series of summer sing-a-longs hosted by a ( Read more... )

Also, hooray for singing! I just joined a chorus here and we'll be performing in Carnegie Hall in November. I'm really happy to be singing again.

I can't imagine reading through Rutter's Gloria without stumbling a few times, if it's anything like his Requiem.

Carnegie Hall! *envy face* Singing is one of those activities that makes me feel simultaneously wild and snooty -- which may just be a sign of how not-wild I am -- but the reconciliation of the desire to be as loud as I want to be and yet sound reeeal pretty is pretty miraculous :) .

So good to hear from you :) .

Heh, I'm just the opposite. amalthya and I take voice lessons together. She has a much louder voice than I do, so when we're warming up together, I know she'll drown me out. It's so nice not to have to worry about whether anyone can hear me! I actually probably get a little louder and clearer because I'm relaxing, rather than straining to be heard. It's one of the things I love about choral singing.

I've been told I have a really nice voice when I am not afraid of people hearing it. I tend to tighten up my throat b/c I don't want to be loud, and that just doesn't sound good. I tend to sing better in small choruses (my campus one right now has around 15 people on the email list, but we only have around 5-8 who attend regularly) b/c I know that my voice is needed to keep the group going.
