happy friday!
First, lj newbie question -- I started to use a tag then decided that I don't like it. I've changed it, but it still appears under "tags" in one of my journal's navigation panes. How do I get rid of it?
Since I may as well use this as a "journal" -- I am proud to have started to sing again this month at a series of summer sing-a-longs hosted by a Santa Monica church, after a several year hiatus. On July 5 I read through Haydn's Little Organ Mass, Handel's Coronation Anthem #4, and Beethoven's Hallelujah from Mount of Olives, quite expressively and accurately for someone who hasn't done any serious music in a long time, if I say so myself. On July 19 I stumbled through Vivaldi and Rutter's Glorias with much less grace, but I blame the conductor ;) .
Well, him, and the fact that my weakest reading link is time signature changes (esp to 5/4 or 7/8) and my next weakness is key signature changes, and we had many of both. Nonetheless I acquitted myself well enough that the altos sitting around me all tried to recruit me for their own choirs. Can't wait for Sept, when the season for the choir I've chosen to join begins! I'm also thinking of signing up for the Christmas Oratorio for the 74th LA Bach Fest. Too much? Probably...
