I just got back from church

Mar 12, 2006 13:17

The church had children giving out heart-shaped stickers that said "Jesus loves Cowboys" and "Jesus loves Cowgirls". The people were genuinely friendly and spoke about missionary work in foreign countries, etc etc the music was great... I really thought I had come to a place that accepted all people and was a meeting ground for my dad and I. After ( Read more... )

Thanks for listening (reading) my post. It means a lot, because this isn't the first time this has happened. As my parents are divorced, you guessed it, the EXACT same thing happened at Sagemont Baptist Church two or so years ago.

hah... yeah but I felt so tempted to do something like that

I felt really angry inside, but I wasn't going to let them see me angry. That wasn't going to change anything or anyone's attitudes or beliefs... these ppl were equating homosexuality with prostitution and drug additiction. Me showing any form of attitude towards them would make me look like a Jerry Springer case. O_O

I talked it through with my boyfriend last night, and he decided after hearing what went on he is going to write a letter to the Fellowship of Cowboy Churches (Bryan-CS chapter, that was the one I attended yesterday). And if the letter doesn't do anything, then phone call, and so on and so forth to meeting with the pastor from the church in Bryan-CS, Texas... I feel really lucky to have met Tommy I guess you could say, he wants it so that someday the three of them (Tommy, me, and my dad) can go to that church without any fear a repeat.

You're an incredible person. Thank you for sharing this story with us. Our society needs more displays of inner strength, and you present yours so poetically.

The world is full of unknowing fools and could use more people of your caliber.

I am very glad to know you.

Wow. I have no idea what to say to that except thanks... Thanks for your support, thanks for being a friend. I don't think I have a way with words (the sad thing is, I'm a Lit major). I know if this had happened to you I couldn't have been able to muster up some sort of response that made me feel as uplifted as your reply just did for me.

Thanks Meggy :)

Do too!

And...I really have no idea what to say, 'cause I'm all not good at putting my thinkingness into comprehensibleness. But I is proud of you for being so strong.
