thank you for the laugh... reading about your boys on the hill... and Drew's comment... i literally laughed out loud! i adore your boys so much! but we know this.
cool on the dog!!
Vancouver and St. John's?! yeah... so close yet so far... and man, he's gonna be one tired guy!!
Lets not forget that I love doing all that outside stuff anyway so I'm just really happy to be able to get my boys involved in it too. In my mind, every minute we spend on the rink or on the slopes is another minute not spent in front of the TV.
Plus, I think I've already admitted to this: I really only had children so I'd have someone to play with.
As for the Dog... yeah, very cool. we did a lot of research and although Newfs are very hairy and they do drool a lot, I think they'll be a perfect fit for our family and I can't wait.
as for hubby's travel plans. Yeah, I guess he'll be a little tired, but that's why they pay him the big bucks.... *tongue in cheek*
LOLOL this made me laugh. You are SO lucky to have all that skiing and skating around you! The idea of this canal thing intrigues me - I've never skated on natural ice before! One day I am so going to Canada in winter.
Speaking of Canada, believe it or not, I actually know where St John's is! I used to work with someone from there! :O
If you ever decide to come to Canada... and happen to pick this part of the country (it's a very LARGE country) make sure to let me know. I'd love to be there when your blade meet natural ice for the first time.
BTW... natural ice is very nice sometimes but it can also suck BIG TIME. It's entirely at the mercy of mother nature and that's not always a good thing.
BUT, having said that, YES I do feel very lucky that I have access to all of our favourite winter activities. It sure make winter go by quicker when you keep yourself busy. In fact, I'd say we probably enjoy winter about as much, if not more, than we do summer.
My life is about as opposite from yours as you can get - I'm single, with no human children, I don't ski...etc. I never wanted to be married and have kids. It just never felt like the thing to do. But there are days lately when I think about what it would be like to have a full house and raise children with a loving husband. It does sound lovely. Well, at least your family sounds lovely! ha! I know it's hectic, but I also know that you know you are very blessed!
and I always smile at 'Owen'. I love that someone else loves that name!
Yeah, as I get older, I find myself thinking about it more. I wonder what's in the cards for me. I'm just very glad that I love being single and spending time alone. I know I'll be okay if that's the way things stay. I'd hate to be pining for someone and feeling lonely. I think you have to be very secure with yourself in order to have a successful relationship. I just enjoy the ride. :D
I think you have to be very secure with yourself in order to have a successful relationship.
You just hit the nail right on the head. But the key word in that phrase is successful. Many people will stay in bad relationships because they are too insecure to venture out and try to make it on their own. So, they'd rather stay in a stale or bad relationship than be alone.
Honestly, I think the big thing is to be secure enough to be able to say "I don't NEED you." For some, that may not sound like a good thing to be able to say to your partner, but I think it is a very good thing. What it says, IMHO, is that "I'm not staying in this relationship because I NEED you.... I stay because I WANT to stay.... I stay because this is where I want to be." not because I have no other choice.
We're getting a male... or at least we're hoping for a male. Since they haven't had their litters yet, we're still not sure. Who knows, maybe both girls will have a litter of 5 females and no males.... LOL, not likely, but since I broke my crystal ball it's hard to tell.
YES, hubby is a total sweetheart. I've also, of course, done it on my own as well but it sure if a lot easier when he comes.
Tomorrow should be an interesting day. It's supposed to be cold as hell! BUT it's our last lessons so we don't want to miss it. Oh well, if worst comes to worst we'll cut it short I guess
Winter so far has been bizarre. We got our first 'real' snow two Thursdays ago. We still have a bit on the ground but nothing dreadful. The temperature has been fluctuating between the high 20s to the mid 40s. Definitely NOT winter temps in WNY. :) I'm not complaining though. Nice winter means less extreme heating bills.
So the craziest thing.... out of 11 pups, only two were boys. So, we're getting a girl.
Definitely NOT winter temps in WNY. Don't you guys usually get practically burried? We're supposed to get a super duper storm tonight and tomorrow. They're forecasting the biggest storm of the winter.. apparently. Which totally sucks cuz I had planned on playing hookie with the boys tomorrow to take them skiing. Now... well now we're gonna get tons of snow, which is great for skiing, but the roads will be too dangerous to drive on!
Even worst, if we really DO get this storm then the kids will probably end up having a snow day so they'll be home from school anyway! *Sigh* Can't win.

I do wish I had a little more time to spend on LJ but, alas, there are only 24 hours in a day and some of that needs to be spent sleeping.
I do like hearing that folks enjoy my posts when I get around to writing one... makes is all worth while. LOL
How's your winter been?
