Headed to Cincinnati !

Memorial day weekend I am taking a road trip down to Cincy to visit my good friends Dave and Jane.  Technically their place is in Newport, Kentucky, immediately across the Ohio River from Cincy, but we don't discuss that.  ;-)  I'm going down there with a mutual friend of ours, Aranda, who is more Janes friend (tho she and I get along fine) and is

You could always stay an extra week. You're not doing anything at home, might as well do nothing in Cincy. :)

If I could, I would! It's not my 'doing anything' that's the problem, it's that everyone else has stuff to do. :-(

Not a big fan of Cincy,
but there's plenty of stuff to do while you are there. My personal recommendations

1) Eat at SkyLine chili (there are tons of them)

2) Check out Joseph Beth Bookstore

3) Thai food in Cincy is extremely good, so if looking for a reasonably priced food experience, Id recommend Thai

4) Beware of folk affected by Sun Blindness - apparently the folk in Cincy are incapable of remembering to put down their sun visors or to wear sunglasses, so must be reminded each sunrise/sunset to expect the sun to get in their eyes if they are heading its direction.

5) Bring good maps - asking for directions in Cincy is a very unsatisfactory exercise

6) Consider making a sidetrip to Columbus to attend MarCon http://www.marcon.org/ its a neat sf convention much better (IMO) than most of the chicago cons and its being held that weekend.
