When hatred is the only theme

One of my fellow LJers is a nice young person who finds herself as practically the only Republican Catholic in her college environment. As such, it is easy to understand that she should indulge in some modest and polite rejoicing at the discomfiture of a candidate and a party that opposed everything that was dearest to her. Less understandable, ( Read more... )

Whatever she meant, it was illiterate nonsense. Sorry, but I know Marxists and Marxism, and her sneer is simply irrelevant to anything they have to say or do. It is democratic politicians who campaign on economic issues; Marxists have always campaigned on moral ones. Anyone who thinks otherwise simply knows nothing about them.

About the term "monster", it was poorly used - inexcusable, in a study that meant to criticize my target's poor use of language. I meant that to any liberal this sort of person would be the kind of monster they would construct to pillory their idea of conservatism. I do not mean that she is a monster; perhaps the work I was looking for is "caricature".

All ge-nu-ine quotes from Ann Coulter.

I'm not a conservative, I admit. But there are conservatives I like and respect, and enjoy reading and arguing with.

She is about as far from one of them as one can get.

Well, I can see that she is pretty consistent. Only two things: I know nothing about Patricia Duff, but Pamela Digby Churchill Harriman and a couple of other names in between certainly was a whore, or rather a "courtesan" - meaning that her services came rather more expensive. High-born Englishwomen produce the best specimens of the breed on the planet. And I agree with Coulter about Diana, although I would have expressed myself without her characteristic vulgarity. But that's all right: it is possible to agree with Hitler (for instance, about the merits of Franz Lehar's music) without approving of the man, either.
