So I think I mentioned last post that I hit a snag with the house for the Grove family. There was some discussion on things that could be done, but I'm still stuck.
Maybe a downstairs bathroom in the back corner and separate seating areas, like one with a tv, one with a fireplace and bookshelves. Maybe create the fireplace/bookshelves idea into a library. Nothing wrong with the reptile, though it could be moved to "under" the stairs right by the kitchen maybe.
Hopefully that gave you something to think about, I'm horrible about building houses still! :)
The reptile I probably won't keep, there's no way it would survive, with the fellow away as often as he is, lol. I hadn't thought of a library, but that could work well. Thanks!
I could put the fireplace where the terrarium is currently? Then there's a bit of floorspace for a sitting area, so that takes care of that part. Then I could put a library where you painted in a fireplace, and stick the bathroom in that corner... this could work. :D
I think an entry hall would be nice, maybe also with an arch. You could put a *needs word* "dresser" (the seasons-thing for changing into outerwear, with the hat and the coat) there, for example. Maybe also some souvenirs from his journeys?
I thiiink I prefer option 2, feels neater? Having a hallway like that is a good idea. I don't feel completely sold on it though... not sure why. I'm torn between having a normal layout and having a fairly empty/spacious house that can later be made over into something more functional once Mr. Grove stops roaming and starts up a family. In the spirit of an RKC (though one set in the future, lol) I'm also still trying to find the happy medium between futuristic/medieval/limited infrastructure+resources. :< Like, I don't think they'd have a huuuuge labour force for the production of elaborate furniture/etc, but if they have ~the technology~ to do that with minimal labour, not an issue, you know? So that limits what furniture is available, and that limits what sort of rooms would be in a house.
I have already started messing around with it and I'm getting closer to something I like, so after this rambling, here's one whole picture of where I was up to last night. XD

Alternatively, you could look at this really crappy paint drawing:
