Followed you! :D I'm trying to be good at Tumblr, still learning the culture of it. And OMG Golden Globes on Tumblr right now. It's glorious!

I do hope you consider watermarking or at least identifying your artwork with a link to your work on it when posting it. I'm not on Tumblr but I do visit a few Supernatural blogs/Tumblrs/pages (?) from time to time, and artwork theft is so easy it's maddening. It's also incredibly frustrating because of all the reblogging there is no attribution on *anything* unless someone takes the time to do it -- which they don't. So I'll find an interesting image that I want to save, and unless a person is reblogging directly from who posted it (which is rare) I have no idea who actually made the art unless it's signed/watermarked.

Ah, yes, I've been told to make watermarks as obnoxious as possible. It's annoying because I don't like watermarks either, but it seems like it's necessary to prevent the loss of authorship on art. One of the reasons why I'm on Tumblr to begin with is to take more ownership of my art. My art is already out there, floating around, without my express permission (and against the very explicit terms on redistribution I try to make very clear).

It's a very different culture than LJ. In comparison, LJers, overall, seem to pay more attention to the etiquette of proper attribution.

Man, if anyone ever did what they do on Tumble here on LJ there would be an uproar. I think the main reason for it is because Tumblr makes it very easy to spread stuff around by being lazy. All you have to do is hit "reblog" -- without needing to mention where the original photo/image/artwork was found. It's also (from what I can see) very difficult to actually *write* posts. I understand Tumblr is a visual medium, but when I visit (the amount I do) I find it frustrating when there are no comments and I can't follow "conversation" posts.

Also, overwhelmingly Tumblr is home to very, very young kids. I'm talking teenagers still in high school. That definitely affects content and the way they feel about attribution. In this Web 2.0 world of ours it seems there is no privacy anymore and everyone feels the need to know everything about people...which is why your artwork was so easily stolen. They don't even think it's wrong.

Hmm, I've found it's quite easy to write posts (maybe posters themselves are lazy about actually writing, though), but it's not so easy to respond to posts. I still haven't figured this out!

The lapse of online ethics regarding art/photography/etc. is really an issue to me. And I know it's an issue to other creators, and at this point, we're just resigned about the situation. It's all outside of our control now, once it's on the internet.

Yay! I'm leucocrystal over there too!

Just know, I do love Tumblr, but I cannot deal with it these days without all the amazing extensions available through Missing E, and Tumblr Savior.

It looks like your questions have been answered by others pretty well already. :)

Followed you! Oh my goodness, I need to look into those extensions. At the moment, I'm so new to it that I don't know what's even possible on Tumblr.

Totally understandable, I still remember what that was like! If you have any questions about either of those, let me know and I'll do my best to answer!

OKAY, MOAR QUESTIONS.

How do I leave a comment for someone? I see other people doing it, and I hear that you have to reblog in order to leave comments, but I don't think they reblogged! I check their Tumblrs, and I don't see the reblog.

Also, I see some people who have added a little thingie to the bottom of their post with a question/answer box, like "Do you have an answer to ____?" How do I do that?

http://mf-luder-xf.tumblr.com/ Yay!!

3. tumblr tags do help search, but FYI, be on the lookout for things like role play blogs filling up character/actor tags and such. I also use tags for my own purposes.

Yay! Followed you. I am so happy to be able to follow some of my closest friends on LJ. But I'm also a little frustrated because I can't seem to find everyone (and I know they're on Tumblr, because they left LJ for Tumblr). I'm still getting used to it.
