I was asked this question on twitter the other day: what podcasts do you listen to? I am a very avid spoken word person and it was the ability to use mp3 players as little repositories of essentially radio programmes was one of the things that really sold me on the technology. I still love them and, despite a general distaste (yes still) for ( Read more... )

Lightroom is *amazing* if you need to manage a large library of pictures. I couldn't do w/o it at this point.

If you decide you want it, let me know, or find someone there who can get the educational discount. It normally costs $300, but I can get it for you for $100.

I actually just upgraded from v1 to v2, and given the upgrade cost is the same as the new cost for me, I just bought a new copy and am trying to sell my old copy on CL.

I'm not a fan of spoken word. I have two extremes - silence in which I can read about anything I wish to read about or very very loud rock/metal music. I honestly don't think I've downloaded a podcast in my life. In fact apart from a few spoken word comedy CDS (not recommended for MP3 unless you want people to see you laughing aloud on the bus), the only spoken word I listen to is The Archers - usually on the BBC iplayer due to working evenings. I have discovered I can listen to BBC iplayer on my new phone though which is rather exciting!

I'm a big fan of Kermode and Mayo on Radio 5 Live, their movie reviews programme is excellent and frequently hilarious. There's an archive of past reviews as well.

Occasionally we'll listen to Radio 4 comedy programmes like the Now Show or the News Quiz. Quite similar to Have I Got News For You, but more comedians and radio-type panelists than on HIGNFY.

Some of those links look really interesting -- thanks! I'll try to listen to some via my laptop. For some reason, spoken word directly in my ear makes me nauseous. o_O This is why I'm not a huge phone chat person.

No surprise that your noobie-tech friend has no podcasts to share with you. ;)
