So, our housewarming yesterday went off quite well. It turned into a rather small gathering, which was absolutely fine, and in good style we pretty much hung around, ate and chatted until early evening. raayat even managed to have a first successful run on the grill in the rain! Cumin vinaigrette...!

Hmmm....I wonder if roasting the fresh-ground cumin would enhance its flavor a bit, as well as tempering its impact a bit. (I tend to keep whole and ground cumin at home.)

I think that vinaigrette by itself will lend itself very nicely to salads accompanying a predominately desi dinner...daal, rice, a fish curry with a salad topped with a nice cumin vinaigrette...yummm.

ooh I forgot to mention we tried that this time around and it did work very well. We've taken to roasting the seeds anytime we use them from whole. . .

Ooh I love the 'occasional table'. I'd love to have a kitchen big enough for one, although why occasional- it would be used all the time!

It is really very fab - and I agree, "occasional" it is not. We would love to have you over at some point! Perhaps we ought to just start planning it?
