you stood me up for our survivor date! i was very, very sad. i signed on and everything! sigh.
however, i was just about to start hunger games and now you are telling me it's a trilogy? CRAP. i am bad at waiting! should i wait, or should i not? grrrrr. crisis.
also, i had something i was going to share about YA, and i have forgotten. ho hum. maybe it will come to me later. in other YA news, i realized i have never read "jacob have i loved" because after "bridge to terebithia" i swore i hated her for making me cry like that. so maybe i'll go read that now, and await what you have to say about hunger games.
I was sad too! Well, afterwards I was sad. At the time I was too drunk to sign on.
*coughs*
I want you to read Hunger Games because I want to discuss it with you! But, yeah- I was SO UPSET when I learned it was a trilogy. THAT IS JUST MEAN, OKAY?
And, ooh, I am still carrying my Bridge to Terebithia grudge, but I adored Jacob Have I Loved anyway.
And also Hunger Games, but with slightly less ferocious hilarity than Smekday. I'm glad you read it. I read it months and months and months ago and no one else has.
Well, if you shoot your eye lasers, then I'll have no choice but to EXPLODE YOUR HEAD!fox1013October 5 2008, 23:03:49 UTC
I KNOOOOOOOOOW
OMG, and the "photographs" (I am trying to decide if the final page illustration would be a spoilery icon?) and and and I LOVED IT ALL A LOOOOOOOOOOT.
I am still trying to decide how I feel about Hunger Games. I feel in some ways like it didn't serve its purpose, and in other ways like it went above and beyond. Decisions.

I need to get myself an actual copy of this book. I have the ARC that I got from...was it BEA? Or NCTE? I forget. But anyway. It only has half of the "photographs"--they last third or so of the book just has "illustration tk

I have decided to hell with spoilers, and the last page illustration is now my icon. Hee.
I have to admit, Smekday totally surprised me. I'm not sure exactly what I expected, but... not that. As much as I fully support passing thsi book off to everyone, NOW, possibly you should wait a book or two til they come to trust your opinion without question?
Re: Hunger Games- I completely agree about Katniss. I was genuinely pleasantly surprised by her. I liked her from the beginning, generally, although I was kind of irritated that she was all self sacrificing. And then she kept mentioning things she did because of the editing and how that works. And because I am me, it's amazing how much that won me over.
