The more I look into this, the more crazy this driving me, because I cannot find a single decisive answer.

Poll The little-known Fifth Question

Why can't you find a decisive answer? I mean, I've always known the fourth plague to be wild beasts - I've never seen sources that state otherwise.

Hum....d"tzach, adash, b"achav - dam, tzfardeia, kinim, arov. Wild beasts? I always got it mixed up with the fifth.

I got up this morning and asked my mom, very conversationally, "What does arov (the fourth plague in Hebrew) mean?" I'm sure that didn't sound at all weird. XD (Sadly, she didn't know the answer.)

Anyway, I think this is just a translation issue, so it can be whatever you want. Personally, I think "pestilence" is a much cooler word.

ETA: I should not try to type before properly awake. *headdesk*

Woo! Wikipedia says I got it right! Of course, now I'm worried that I didn't really know it on my own and I was just subconsciously remembering A2Zmom's post on the ten plagues finger puppets. (I mean, who wouldn't want to put a toy locust on her finger?)
