Michael had been at his mother's dealing with things, and had meant to get back to the loft before Jess arrived. However Madeline was Madeline and getting out wasn't so simple.

When he finally got home and walked through the door, he spotted her and a smile came to his lips. "Hi."

He nodded and walked over to her, just sliding his arms around her and pulling her close to his chest.

Jess leaned in to the hug, getting as close as possible as she buried her face in his chest.
