OH GOD SAVE ME FROM THE WEBINAR!

We upgraded our Report Retrieval software over the weekend. Apart from taking FOR EVER! (a 2 hour process took 12), we've had nothing but trouble since. Now I'm in a webinar training for the new software and *poing* its the same as the old. Normally, I'd slip on my headphones and listen to music and sort of tune it out. But no. :P ( Read more... )

I hate the term "webinar". Almost as much as I hate "cybrarian." Although, God help me, I may find myself using "blogosphere" one of these days.

And I narrowly missed one today. Luckily I have two other meetings and I wouldn't have been able to eat lunch had I attended the webinar.

Webinar is terrible, and up until now, I've never heard of cybrarian, and God help me, I wish I never did.

Blogosphere I never use, but it doesn't actually fill me with the white hot rage of a righteous logophile like Webinar does.

And I swear, this headset is going to give me an ear infection.

I hate blog as it is, so naturally blogosphere drives me batty. Webinar is allowed a pass for being used as the name of an ineffectual warlord in Erfworld.

Back when I was a slide curator, some people on a mailing list of visual resource curators/librarians would actually use the term "slidarian" to refer to us (since we mostly wrangled slides). That term filled me with righteous indignation, and I would pointedly use "slide curator" or "visual resource curator" in their direction when I got the chance.

I think it was the same people who started using "cybrarian" as we started getting digitization programs. (And who may have used "digitalization" on occasion, too. *twitch*)
