Know just how you feel...

Bought a lovely new house, not far from where I'm living now, but I've got to pack my stuff up. And it's not really just my stuff - it's my parents' stuff too. My mom passed away about 10 years ago, my dad will be gone 2 years in November. And while I loved them very much, and they had lovely taste, I don't want to move their lives into my new home.

And then there are the books. I am beginning to feel like I should be calling this move bookageddon.

It's so hard deciding what to keep - and why. Just because it was theirs isn't always a good enough reason, though there will be things you want to keep.

When my mum passed, my sister took everything, and then when Dad sold up, he ordered a skip and did all the 'sorting' himself. (We didn't know he was in the early stages of Alzheimers at the point and had to do some rescuing!)

Gak! I am very familiar with bookageddon -- and dvdageddon. I'm also going from a 3 x 1 to a 2 x 1 so some downsizing involved as well.

I have to move myself and the munchkin - she's 6. Thing is, I can't touch her room until the night before the move. Last time we moved I tried to get a head start on her room and she had a meltdown; she thought I was going to throw her stuff away. Lesson learnt.

Hope your move goes well.

Just a quick drive-by hello (yes I do remember that we talked earlier). <3 I'm glad things are looking okay re the move. Yay for your ex-husband being helpful, too.
Good luck with both the move _and_ the writing of many new stories for us to enjoy. :D
