Random Thought for March 14th

Mar 14, 2008 20:00

So I'm watching Jericho on Sci Fi tonight (by the way, Jericho is on till midnight Eastern on Sci Fi tonight) and I realized another way in which Jericho has demonstrated its superiority.

There is no Magickal Healing Blud in Jericho.  When you're dead, you're dead.  So when someone I care about gets killed, I actually feel sorrow, as opposed to ( Read more... )

I really think "Rogue River" was the turning point during the first season when the show crossed over into "must see tv" for me.

I had actually checked out of the series at that point, because some of the early episodes were...not good. I came back in at "Semper Fidelis" because my best friend forced me to watch it. It was still mainly a guilty pleasure: I liked Jake and Heather and Hawkins - heck, the entire Hawkins family, but regularly rolled my eyes at some of the other regulars.

This season, though, it's blowing me away. I'm really starting to think more shows need to be constricted and forced to tighten up their story lines.

So, it's ACC tournament time. This is the Big Thing that I do every "middle of March", yet now I have been forced to turn to Sci-Fi, in order to say that I have seen at least one episode of Jericho on a normal-sized television screen. Thanks! (Plus, the episode features my second favorite Jericho-ite, Jonah Prowse! Win/Win!)
Today I read that Jericho was cancelled... again. This made me sad. I finally find a token CBS show to watch, and look what happens to it. Twice!
And when someone I dislike gets killed, I can genuinely rejoice.
And on a completely selfish note, I had a comment ready to go for the Magical Disappearing Jericho Post in which I proclaimed my love for the show for only killing characters I hate. Up until the last one I saw (I still have to watch the 2 before it and the one from this week), they had only killed one person I liked, and even that one I could look at and go "Oh well, better you than someone I like more than you." So, the presence of Post-Apocolyptic Magickal Healing Blud would make me twice as angry!

Aw...is it official? I didn't have much hope, but still, I hoped a little. I was actually hoping that maybe the fact that the show was airing on Sci Fi might mean that Sci Fi would order new episodes. Lord knows it would be better than most of what they air as "original" programming. "Rock Monster"??? I mean, seriously.

I didn't DISLIKE Kenchy, I was just meh on him. I'm quite liking him now, though. I felt quite bad for him in the confrontation with Goetz this season. I feel like he's a really human character - he's damaged, but he's trying his best.

Ahhhh....Hawkins. I forgot how fun it was to watch him telling stories about his background to people.

I had to go hunt down a more official sounding source than where I originally read it (because really, one should not be getting their news from gossip sites) so here is the place that the place I read it at got it from. I usually try to avoid things that can be described as "sci-fi" like the plague, but I will be willing to make an exception if the Sci-Fi channel picks this one up. I mean, I am all over their holiday "Twilight Zone" marathons, so I guess I owe them something for some sort of original programming. (Though the "Rock Monster" and "Hybrid" commercials are not helping their cause... at all.)

I liked him because he was crabby and drunk (plus from The Daily Show). Clearly it does not take much to get me on board with a character.
I forgot how fun it was to watch him telling stories about his background to people.
And to think, the reason I originally latched on to his character was "Oh man! It's Sol!" Again, it does not take much. Of course ( ... )

My family looks like a bunch of illiterate hicks, not like sci fi fans, but they are. It is disturbing how much Sci Fi Channel gets watched in my parents' house. And every time I visit, I complain about (a) the fact that half the stuff that gets shown on Sci Fi is not science fiction and (b) how rotten it is. And my dad agrees with me...and then makes me watch it anyway. At least even he agreed that "Mansquito" was too horrible to watch ( ... )

I happened to simultaneously watch that four hours of Jericho while typing a thesis. *cough* Yes, I can spend a Friday night being THAT big of a geek. I actually just got into Jericho because you mentioned what a great series it was and I happened to notice the first episode was replaying on SciFi. So this is all your fault that I'm watching it. :P It's been a challenge not to be spoiled by commercials for S2 and the internet, but I'm trying, dammit... I'm actually enjoying this show more than I expected. ^^ Thanks for being a bad influence. :P <3
