So I'm watching Jericho on Sci Fi tonight (by the way, Jericho is on till midnight Eastern on Sci Fi tonight) and I realized another way in which Jericho has demonstrated its superiority.
There is no Magickal Healing Blud in Jericho. When you're dead, you're dead. So when someone I care about gets killed, I actually feel sorrow, as opposed to

So, it's ACC tournament time. This is the Big Thing that I do every "middle of March", yet now I have been forced to turn to Sci-Fi, in order to say that I have seen at least one episode of Jericho on a normal-sized television screen. Thanks! (Plus, the episode features my second favorite Jericho-ite, Jonah Prowse! Win/Win!)
Today I read that Jericho was cancelled... again. This made me sad. I finally find a token CBS show to watch, and look what happens to it. Twice!
And when someone I dislike gets killed, I can genuinely rejoice.
And on a completely selfish note, I had a comment ready to go for the Magical Disappearing Jericho Post in which I proclaimed my love for the show for only killing characters I hate. Up until the last one I saw (I still have to watch the 2 before it and the one from this week), they had only killed one person I liked, and even that one I could look at and go "Oh well, better you than someone I like more than you." So, the presence of Post-Apocolyptic Magickal Healing Blud would make me twice as angry!
Also, why did I not like Kenchy Dhuwalia this much the first time around?
Aww, you didn't like Kenchy? Then again, I may be biased, as the first time I saw him, my immediate thought was "Aasif, is that you?"
And because I cannot close a Jericho post without at least one, here is an obligatory Robert Hawkins mention!

Aw...is it official? I didn't have much hope, but still, I hoped a little. I was actually hoping that maybe the fact that the show was airing on Sci Fi might mean that Sci Fi would order new episodes. Lord knows it would be better than most of what they air as "original" programming. "Rock Monster"??? I mean, seriously.
I didn't DISLIKE Kenchy, I was just meh on him. I'm quite liking him now, though. I felt quite bad for him in the confrontation with Goetz this season. I feel like he's a really human character - he's damaged, but he's trying his best.
Ahhhh....Hawkins. I forgot how fun it was to watch him telling stories about his background to people.

I liked him because he was crabby and drunk (plus from The Daily Show). Clearly it does not take much to get me on board with a character.

And to think, the reason I originally latched on to his character was "Oh man! It's Sol!" Again, it does not take much. Of course then he turned out to be totally badass, and the only person in that town I'd trust no matter what the circumstances, (even if he did have a nuclear bomb buried in the basement) which was just an added bonus.

My family looks like a bunch of illiterate hicks, not like sci fi fans, but they are. It is disturbing how much Sci Fi Channel gets watched in my parents' house. And every time I visit, I complain about (a) the fact that half the stuff that gets shown on Sci Fi is not science fiction and (b) how rotten it is. And my dad agrees with me...and then makes me watch it anyway. At least even he agreed that "Mansquito" was too horrible to watch.
If it's been leaked to the Hollywood Reporter, there's probably a good chance that it's accurate. Sigh. Oh well. If it does turn out that way, at least they got to come back with 7 excellent episodes. I know I am harping on the Heroes-Jericho comparisons with annoying frequency, but at the episode 5 mark in Heroes' second season, I was so bored that I actually got online halfway through the episode in search of something interesting to do. Episode 5 of Jericho? Screaming so loudly and frequently that the cat left the room rather than endure it. Maybe...maybe Robert Hawkins is D.L.'s cousin, and he could come to live with Micah and Monica? After all, he would have gone to retrieve Micah's comic and no one would have come out of that house alive.
