I wanted to post some pics from my phone, but the lj mobile app won't allow it for some reason. I think it is a combination of the new scrapbook and the fact that I no longer have a paid account. Pics are on my fb page. Around 1600-1630 when the fire jumped the ridge and the flames became visible (though, the photos don't show) from the Springs. ( Read more... )

I've been watching the news and press conferences by the fire chief. He said that they were taken by surprise by the way the fire changed direction yesterday and they have made sure that they will be ready if it happens again. The fires have been put out in the residential areas for the most part and the focus is on putting it out in the forests and keeping it from spreading. He sounded pretty confident that it wasn't going to spread any farther west than it already has. I'm more than twenty miles from it. My earlier reply to you was an over estimation. There are also reports that the chance of thunderstorms has increased due to the fire. I'm staying optimistic.
