Eh...

I went out this morning to meet James and... I gotta say, it reminded me just how hardy the English really are! The weather was, and still is, MISERABLE! And yet there were loads out on the street and milling about and shopping and even little old people! Even when it started to rain suddenly, most of the people didn't take a blind bit of notice! * ( Read more... )

I never watch TV and I have ad block on my computer, so I daresay you've seen more about the elections that I have! XD At least my vote isn't based on hearing smear campaigns? Hearing people TALK about smear campaigns, on the other hand... >.>

No one cares about the PEOPLE, just the majority vote.
Well, with our whole electoral college system, that's true. It says right on the ballots we're voting for people to vote for whoever we pick. Who are actually NOT required to follow the majority vote for the state anyway! D: At least I'm pretty sure. We elect the electors, though.
But muahaha, at least Oregon's smart and we have mail-in ballots. Today may be election day, but I already voted a while ago.

I just see it on the news, and in some of the comedy sketches. *laughs* I wonder if that old guy and his 'friend' know how much of a joke they've ended up over here! If he gets elected... ALL of our comedians are gonna have a field day!

All I've seen is guys in the running going to the major cities and begging people to vote for them, telling them what they want to hear, not what they can actually do. *fails* Stupid government types... I dislike them all.

*laughs* But Oregon is smart! So far I've seen a lot of people complaining about lining up! Just mailing would be better... But they can't put people walking to they post office/mailbox on TV, can they?

*laughs* while driving to the bus today, my dad exclaimed 'Yes! Today is the last day of the political ads!' It was amusing.

No one's begged me to vote for them~ or against them. I was right next door to one of the candidates for senator the other day, though. No, I take it back, there was a nice lady who came to my house and explained in more detail one of the measures. She brought up very good points. D: There's this guy that gets paid by bunches of rich people for putting things on the ballot. >.< And they're all bad news.

We are smart! If, y'know, you look at certain people. Like me. :D I wonder if Oregon has a better voter turnout because of it? Hmm, now I'm curious~

Do you know what's sad? I knew exactly what you were saying, even with the English-isms. Why? Because of having listened to Giles and Spike use them on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. *dies*

*dies laughing* Really? That's priceless!

I tend not to use any English-isims because most of my friends live outside of the UK. And they ALWAYS have to back me up and ask me what I just said!

I believe you! I watched the show myself and ADORED Giles and Spike! Hell, he was the one I learnt the word "Bint" from! It's a really old slang word for a woman of low standing, or something like that! It's a great word!

I refuse to go near any book in the Twilight series with a ten foot pole. >O Stephanie Meyer compared Edward to characters like Romeo, Heathcliff, and Gilbert Blyth on her blog....it pissed off so many people, because she basically said that Edward was better than all of them (and even just dismissed Heathcliff as "pure evil").

I'm only 17, so I can't vote yet....but I find Obama to be the lesser of two evils. Imagine if Palin somehow managed to become President. D:

I'm not voting purely on the principle of "I really don't give a rat's ass". Didn't vote in the last election, either, but then again I'm not even registered to vote. Come to think of it I'm 99% positive I never even voted in the student elections at school :3

I also sort of lol at people who seem to think that voting is an obligation rather than a choice.

I just can't wait until all the political ads go off air. The only ones I haven't gotten sick of are the ones for the New York State Senate, and only because the two guys running for it have a clean campain (for instance, there's this guy who's pro-education about Autism, and he had two commercials - one where he was basically hanging out with his children and grandchildren while talking about Autism awareness, and another where the announcer was talking about the good he did for Saratoga's neighbor, Wilton, and featured mini interviews with him and various people within the community. There's not a word about his 'rival'), whereas everyone going for Congress or President are playing a bit dirty - dissing the competitors and whatnot.

I frankly don't give a damn about politics - ever since 9/11 happened, the U.S. just started stinking. I could go into a rant about airport security and the pain of crossing back into the states from my trip to Canada back in August, but I won't. The country's going to screw itself up with or without my
