Mackenzie, Rio & More at the Cannes Film Festival

The Little Prince, an animated adaptation of the classic French children's story, made its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this month, and two child actresses who do voicework for the film were there to support their new movie.

Mackenzie Foy, 14, made her first public appearance since the Critics Choice Awards last January at a photocall for The Little Prince on May 22, with her American director Mark Osborne and costar Riley Osborne, who voices the prince.

Although the film maintains the book's original male-centric title, Mackenzie's unnamed female character, The Little Girl, is actually the main protagonist. She voices a modern, over-scheduled daughter to a controlling, ambitious mother ( Rachel McAdams). The traditional story comes in when her neighbor, an aging aviator (Jeff Bridges, True Grit), tells her about his long-ago adventures with a boy he called "the little prince."

Japanese child actress Rio Suzuki, 10, was also at the photocall arm-in-arm together with Mackenzie. She provides the voice of The Little Girl in the Japanese-language dub of the film. Since it's premiering at Cannes, The Little Prince also exists in a French version; adult star Marion Cotillard does the voice of The Rose in both English and French.

Rio and Mackenzie both attended The Little Prince's Cannes premiere, also held on May 22. Rio paid tribute to her heritage in a traditional Japanese kimono, while Mackenzie wore a shimmering, floor-length silver gown. (Doesn't she look stunning here? And so much older - I think she could easily pass for 18.)

The Cannes Film Festival has practically been a coming-out party for 17-year-old British starlet Bebe Cave (pictured at a press conference on May 14), whose life is starting to take on fairy-tale overtones similar to those in her movie Tale of Tales, which premiered at Cannes under its Italian title Il Racconto Dei Racconti, and has been well-received.

Bebe (pictured at the film's May 14 premiere) had to get special permission from her school to attend Cannes in the middle of exams week, and shortly after she flew back home, she tweeted this message, certainly typical of any teenager:

Okay so if evry1 loses their pens just b4 the exam then we won't have to do it WILL WE??? KL GD PLAN THIS WILL WORK
