The 36th People's Choice Awards.
Held January 6, 2010, at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Hosted by Queen Latifah.




Demi Lovato, age 17, wore a short, strapless dark blue dress with silver heels. She was nominated for Favorite Breakout Music Artist, but she lost to Miley Cyrus, also 17, who did not attend. Miley also won Favorite Breakout Movie Actress, beating out Emily Osment, also 17 and also not in attendance.

The 15th Critics' Choice Awards.
Held January 15, 2010, at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. Hosted by Kristen Chenoweth.




Former child actress Jena Malone, now age 25, attended to support her film The Messenger, which had nominations for Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress. Jena wore a dark blue, loose-fitting pantsuit with a black belt and platform sandals.




Saoirse Ronan, age 15, won Best Young Actor/Actress for The Lovely Bones, and she was also nominated in the adult category, where she lost to a tie between Sandra Bullock & Meryl Streep. Saoirse wore a multicolored print dress with silver metallic accents and gold boots.

Saoirse's acceptance speech: "I'm okay, thanks. This is - this is good. Um, wow, it's really great to be here. Um, I - I'm not used to making speeches, so I think the best thing for me to say is, um, thank you to my wonderful parents who - I couldn't do any of this without you. You know that, and I love you very, very much. And, um, to the gorgeous Pete Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens, who have made this all possible. And their vision is so strong and so beautiful, um, it was - it was a joy for me to play, so thank you."



Bailee Madison, age 10, was nominated for Best Young Actor/Actress for Brothers, which she lost to Saoirse. Bailee wore a floor-length pale yellow gown with a ruffled skirt.
