Previous Chapter: Prologue

“Unnie, what do you think of this dress?”
His two sisters' conversation is drowned out as he draws his attention elsewhere, sitting on the window ledge he watches the streets of Seoul go by. It’s fast but in his mind it’s so slow, too slow. He wants the world to stop, just for a few minutes so he can get his head right. But wants don’t happen that easily, the world goes on by minding its own business. Fast, way too fast.
There was never any time to just sit and think, he wants to set his mind straight, he wants to lay down his life, to make the right decisions, to do what’s right. But time gets in the way. It flies by so quick that his life is dragged along with it, making hasty decisions, pulled into a relationship that was drifting apart, avoidance became something of a regular.

“Oppa...”
Junsu’s brought back to reality, his younger sister eyes filled with concern as she tries to find some sort of emotion in his eyes.
He smiles at her lovingly.
“Liyin ah”.
She smiles back and ignores the fact her brother had something on his mind because she knew the result of his worries, yet she didn’t confront him. She couldn’t.
Liyin’s prepared with an armful of wedding magazines, sitting comfortably next to him on the ledge, flicking through pages and pages of ‘favourite’ outfits awaiting the opinion of her older brother.
He tries so hard to concentrate, it’s his sister’s wedding in three months and being the only man in the household since the death of their father he had a duty.
She’s well on her way to live the life she had always dreamed off with the guy she loves. Park Yoochun, the guy he secretly envies, the man who knew right from wrong. The man that makes time no matter what.
Liyin mentions a dress fitting that involves everyone, from bridesmaids to flower boys, his responses are ‘mmhs’ and ‘ahs’ and she just signs.
“Kim Junsu, have some consideration, your little sister needs your help and all you can do is think of him!”
“Yeonhee Unnie...”
“Countless of times he leaves you like this, how much Junsu? How much strength do you have to pick yourself up now? He’s a unless piece of crap that doesn’t deserve a guy like you. Where is he now? Has he even called since he left two weeks ago?”
“He’s been busy...”
“I take that as a no then. What kind of boyfriend is he? Why do you always make excuses for him and give him the benefit of the doubt? Why are you still enduring this?”
“Noona, you don’t-“
“Yes I do understand Junsu. You staying up all night waiting for him with bloodshot eyes, your stained cheeks from the tears that bastard caused. Oh I fully understand...”
Liyin tugs at his sleeve to give him some sort of comfort as his knuckles whiten from his tightly fisted hand. He bites his tongue and prepares to walk away before he said something he would regret.
“You can’t avoid this forever; it’ll hurt you more in the long run!”
“Unnie...!”
“He needs to know Liyin ah!”

Junsu’s teeth clenches as he slams his down shut and falls back into his bed.
Some people just didn’t know. There are certain things that people are more drawn into than others. Not everyone understands the reason why a certain individual is standing on the same spot while others are moving on way ahead.
Junsu doesn’t want to move because he’s afraid that he won’t chase after him no matter how slow he runs.
Yeah he was a bastard, but only Junsu had the authority to call him that. He was Junsu’s idiot of a fucking bastard.

But in all honesty why was he so angry? Because it was the truth or because it was total bullshit?

Avoiding was what he was doing right now, staying at the family home as the thought of being alone at their apartment was getting unbearable. Yet today was the day he would return to their home, no call, no form of communication to know whether he was alive or dead but Junsu managed to find out one way or another that his lover was back. And he was going to wait yet again.

'Bang! Bang! Bang!'
"Police! Open up!!"
"Looks like they don't want us to disturb their little session"
"Shall we use the Ram Jae?" his partner asked.
"Everyone get into position, we're going in" Jaejoong instructed through his earpiece.
"Yes Sir!"
"Whenever you're ready Yoochun".
Yoochun nodded "everyone, go go go!" he shouted through the earpiece before putting his strength into the Ram to bashed his way through the door.
As the door broke open, Jaejoong lead his officers into the house and instructed each group to search the individual rooms. Yoochun and himself ran upstairs opening the door to the main bedroom.
"Well well well, what do we have here?" Both detectives stood side by side in the narrow doorway to find a group at five men sitting on newspaper covered floor in the abandoned room.
Two of the men were high on drugs, while the other three had a line of cocaine ready for what looked like their next fix.
The three more alert of the five quickly scrambled to their feet and tried to escape; one opened the window and hesitated for a second as he examined the height from the bedroom to the concrete floor beneath him. Before he could decide whether or not he should jump, one of the other men pushed him, before leaping off the ledge himself.
"Two suspects have just jumped out of the rear bedroom window" Yoochun stated, while another suspected pushed his way pass him and ran down the stairs.
"You deal with these two, and I go after him" Jaejoong instructed Yoochun.
"Be careful!"
Running down the stairs, Jaejoong watched the suspect push through his officers before making an exit through the back door.
"Hey!! You might as well quit while you're ahead, there's nowhere for you to run now" the detective smirked, noticing the suspect was slowing down due to the fenced garden surrounding him.
"Quit!? Yeah right!" the young suspect retorted, as he leaped over the fence.
Jaejoong groaned as he too leaped over the metal fencing continuing his chase.
Both men sped up and were running at what seemed like the speed of light through one of the busiest street of Seoul. As the suspect carelessly pushed his way through the crowd, Jaejoong had started to fall behind, slowing down carefully dodging members of the public.
Noticing the suspect running into a small alley, he followed.
"Nowhere to run now. What are you going to do now, climb the wall?!" the detective shouted as the suspect ran towards a dead-end at the end of the alleyway.
"Do-Don't come near me, I...I will use it!" the suspected stuttered, pulling out a small penknife.
"And risk extending your prison sentence?"
"What does it matter anyway, I'm already going to spend most of my life there!"
"Not if you help us with our enquires and tell us who's supplying your drugs, I will let the judge know of your help and your sentence could be reduced"
"Could! Could is not good enough, and I'm not a grass!" the knife in his hand was hanging dangerously loose as the suspect’s hand shook.
"Fine, if that's the way you want it"
The suspect stepped back as Jaejoong approached him, closer and closer. He found himself leaning against the wall, gripping the knife tightly he swung it towards Jaejoong's chest.
"JAE!!" a voice from behind shouted.
Jaejoong reacted quickly and grabbed onto the suspects approaching wrist, twisting it behind the man's back. As the man screamed in agony, he had no longer had a hold on the knife and dropped it beside their feet.
"You okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine, what's was with that scream back then?"
"! I thought he was going to stab you!"
"Aww thank-you for caring" Jaejoong laughed, leading the handcuffed man towards their police car.
"I won't bother next time then, shall I?"
"I said thank-you didn't I?"

“...Oppa?”
Liyin enters Junsu’s room with caution, on the bed lies an open suitcase half packed, in the corner of the room sat her brother. Back towards her, the edges of his spiked up hair shone as he typed eagerly on his laptop.
“Oppa what are you doing?” She focuses her attention to the screen “Jung Yunho verse Choi Seunghyun.” Liyin read from above Junsu’s shoulder. “Him again? Yunho Oppa will win for sure, when is the match?”
“Friday...”
“This Friday? That’s five days time. Is he back then?”
“Mmm...”
Liyin wrapped her arms around Junsu’s shoulders and gave him the biggest hug. The comfort he needed.
“Let’s finish packing!”

Liyin was always the more subtle and understanding sister, she adored her older brother dearly and respected his decision whatever it may be even if she didn’t agree. Yunho wasn’t her favourite person, but she learnt to ignore her negative feelings towards him and endured it for Junsu.
Whatever the situation she was always able to bring a smile to Junsu’s face, a smile that she needed to see daily to remind her of their father and the fact that her brother was still able to smile for her no matter what gave her hope. That smile was still there deep within and not only Jung Yunho can make his lips curve.

"Jump on!"
"Are you crazy? I know what you're like on that thing, you're like some kind of mad man" Yoochun stated, looking at Jaejoong who was wearing his black leather jacket over his work clothes, black shades sitting on a silver shiny motorcycle handing over a extra helmet to him.
"Oh come on, you wuss!"
"No thanks, I've got my car"
"Let’s go for a drink.”
"So what, I'm supposed to leave my car then am I?"
"It'll still be here in the morning, I'll even give you a lift home and a lift to work tomorrow morning."
"How can I say no then?" Yoochun replied sarcastically, reluctantly snatching the helmet from the older man and jumped on.

“Look!”
Liyin brings the laptop to the bed where Junsu laid
“There’s a dance competition next week, you should join”.
“I can’t...”
“You can, it’ll be so much fun you doing what you do best.”
“...I don’t dance like I used to anymore.”
“Rubbish! So you’re saying that what you teach the kids is not dancing at your standard?”
“I’m not doing it!”
Liyin pouts at Junsu’s stubbornness.
“What happened to the little boy with the big dream to become a professional dancer?”
“He grew up and decided that the dream was too big to fulfil”.
“You and I know that’s crap, we know the real reason why your here teaching young children to dance and not in the States fulfilling your dreams!”
“Don’t start Liyin...please just don’t”.

****

“Checking up on brother in law’s other half are we?”
“No...”
“So what are we doing in the boxer’s club then?”
“Liyin wanted me to check whether he was here, apparently he’s back.”
“And Junsu...?”
“He knows, I don’t understand what’s going on. The guys treats him like shit and he’s still with him.”
“Love eh?”
"Two whiskeys on the rocks please.”
“So groom to be, you’re still not afraid this best man of yours will spill your dirty little secrets to you future family in law?”
"You wouldn't dare! Besides I don’t have any ‘dirty secrets’ not as ‘dirty’ as yours anyway".
“I dare you to spill!”
Their laughter and jokes were interrupted by loud cheers in the corner of the club. A group of men huddled up with a number of women sitting around and on their laps getting a bit too up close and personal.
"People have no shame"

It was a small world, word always got round one way or another. Yeah Seoul’s undefeated boxer was back, and oblivious to the two men there he sat behind all those women ‘with no shame’.

"CHEERS!!!"
"Yunho, Seulgi is going to kill me if she finds out about this!" Siwon, Yunho’s manager shouted as the loud music was drowning out any attempted of a normal conversation.
"She won't find out. Look at Hankyung, Yeonhee doesn’t mind him having fun!"
Yeah she didn’t mind because she didn’t know.
On all three men's lap was a girl wrapping their arms around the men, feeding them with snacks and alcohol.
"Aren't you afraid of this going out to the press?"
"It's part of my image; they know what I'm like. I mean no harm..."
"Yeah, but he doesn't..."
"You mean no harm in public, but not many people know the Yunho behind the public eye" Hankyung laughed."Speaking of which, I have some gear if you're up for something stronger..." he quietly suggested.
"Let's go into my office where no one will disturb us" .
"Good idea, Siwon we're going up to the office" Hankyung replied.
While the three guys made their way up the spiral staircase up to Yunho's office, Siwon tapped Hankyung.
"I'm just popping to the toilet first”.

"Ah Siwon just in time" Yunho said the door to the office opened.
"Yunho what are you doing? You have a match next week, what if they test you?"
His manager’s arm stretched out to snatch the contents off the table is pushed away possessively.
"It's only a little line; it'll be out of the system before the match. Come on, have some" Yunho replied preparing another line of cocaine for his friend, while Hankyung was already snorting his.
"Ah no, I'm alright."
"Come on, relax man."
"No seriously Seulgi would definitely kill me if she knew I was doing this again."
"It's only a little line, don't be a chicken."
"I'm not a chicken, I'm just smart. Look boys I'm off yeah? Remember the training".
"Yep, yep. Training"
"Okay, see you tomorrow".
"Mh-hmm..." Hankyung replied, lighting a cigarette.
"At least your girl doesn't fucking rule your life..."

No matter what he did or what he said, Siwon always reached a dead end with Yunho. He constantly wondered to himself why on earth he was appointed his manager; probably because Yunho was able to get away with the extremes he called fun? Yet the boxer was always dedicated to his career regardless of what went on behind the scene, which is why Siwon was still by his side. Yunho has this knack, no one knows what it is he does but he was always able to keep the closest people in his life by his side. Mistake after mistakes are forgiven because somehow he had the power to make them forget his wrongs. The power that was slowly diminishing beyond his knowledge.
