Great recap...wooo, another glass of wine! I'm horribly bummed that Matt chose to play San Francisco on a day when I was half-way around the globe in Indonesia, so I have to live vicariously. That's an awesome setlist.

I've been fence-sitting about the M+, but it sounds like you think it's worth it?

Well, I mean, it depends on how big a fan you are, but I think for people like you and me where he's a favorite musician, it's a neat thing. It's been fun so far (can't entirely judge based on about 5 days, heh) and it's only $25 for the year. So...if money's not too tight, I'd go for it. :)

Good point. After all, what's $25? Two glasses of wine? ;-)

Nice recap! anonymous April 1 2010, 07:47:45 UTC
Man, I have to get to some road shows... I've only ever seen him in Vancouver and I don't know if ever a day will come again when he can play here in a venue that intimate! Well, at least not without winning tix to a private-type do.

Thanks!

Yeah, I could be wrong, but I would venture to guess IOTA is one of the smallest venues they play. It's great to have such a small club-like setting.

Back in his MGB days, I got to see him in the TINIEST venues... The "stage" at one of them, where we saw the band 3 times over the years, was maybe 10 inches off the ground, so we could actually put one foot up on the edge of the stage as we watched the show. And we had to duck every once in a while to avoid being hit by his or Dave's guitar necks. The first time I heard "Born To Kill," I was less than a foot from Matt's face, and got fairly covered in sweat (ew); THAT was intense. Those were the days!

OK, see, I like small venues, but I can do without being covered in sweat. Hee.

I would have liked to see them back in the days of MGB. But they only did one US tour then, and it was when I was just getting into the music so I didn't know until after it happened.

WOOOOOOO BEST LJ ENTRY EVAR

Also: LOVE the shirt you were wearing! Hello, hot stuff! The colour is fantastic on you.

Also also: The venue looks so cool! Compact and intimate and not like the boring theatres that all look the same.

Also also also: I do not miss the days when Matt was scary-skinny. He really does look so much healthier nowadays. Glad the show rocked, not that we would expect any less from our boy. :)

WOO! Hee.

Thank you! It's a favorite color of mine.

Yeah, it's a nice small setting for a show.

Yes, I'm glad he's healthy. Being not-healthy suuuuux. :( NYC show tonight. (WOO. Hee.)

Great pictures. I'm going to help myself to them (if you don't mind), since I didn't use my flash, and everything turned out kind've lamely dark.

(ps this is Laura from the M+ boards)

Thanks!
