I read this a couple of times and an overwhelming sadness fell down over me and I wanted to cry. The title is very fitting for the entire piece and I think that in itself made me understand and feel more. I dislike the concept of sacrificial lambs in any form in this world.
...she had to destroy it before he did .... the desperation could be felt here.
she killed it because it could only be sacred if it didn't exist at all
strength and tragedy all rolled into one. another great ending. the 'sacred' tying in with the sacrifical lamb image.
this was very hard to write. i had to set it up so optimistically, knowing that it would all be ruined in the end. it really made me very sad, because i knew how much she loved this thing, but i knew that she knew she couldn't keep it because it was just too wonderful for the life it would have. and i knew that if she destroyed this happy thing, she herself would never be able to be happy again.
i believe they say we really know and love and feel for our characters, hey?
i wanted to describe everything without saying exactly what the "thing" was, because i wanted to have people try to figure it out. the meaning is the same either way, but i think it's all the more tragic if you really understand her sacrifice.
not sure what inspired this, though. it just kind of came out of nowhere.
This reminds me of the "Shower" piece that I wrote back when...December? November? Same kind of thing, I think. Like Suzy said it is very sad...hopeless. Well done.
