passing the thyme

I found a copy of The Host for a reasonable price, so I decided to buy it. I figured it would be a good movie to watch with my mother and sister on my next visit to Kansas. My mother isn't very keen on monster movies, but maybe she'll watch it since it's in Korean.

I found out The Dandy Warhols will be performing in Mexico City in October. Part of me wants to see them. A larger part of me thinks I should save my money for the aforementioned trip to Kansas and a trip to Chicago. I'm also not sure how easily I could find my way through Mexico City--alone.

panther_woman moved last week, so I no longer have a next-door neighbor. I didn't see much of her the week before she left, since she was south of here--I forget the name of the town. Now she's living closer to her family.

I noticed some empty boxes behind her house when I was doing laundry on Sunday, so I started to break them down and put them in the recycling bin. Then I noticed a rectangular green tub, emblazoned with a Waste Management logo. I've been toying with the idea of converting into a miniature garden. I think all I'd have to do is drill drainage holes in (or near) the bottom and fill it with potting soil. I have some seed packets from Native Seeds.

The only thing that discourages me is that my luck with plants hasn't been very good lately. I bought a basil plant from Trader Joe's recently, and it already looks terrible.

Hegemony or Survival has been a good read so far. I just have two chapters and the Afterword left to read. Maybe I can finish it tonight.

movies, books
