I met speranzosa at Bentley's last night for a game of Scrabble. I was both absorbed in our game and intrigued by a book stand that a woman sitting near us was using. I've used a FlipKlip while reading and eating at the same time, but the one shortcoming of a FlipKlip is that it doesn't hold a book upright--it merely holds it open. This woman had a wire-frame stand that holds a book open and upright (but leaning at a good angle for reading). Annoyingly enough, I forgot to ask her where she got it before I left Bentley's. I guess I'll have to assume the mind-numbing task of searching for it on the internet.

speranzosa won the game of Scrabble.

Currently I'm reading Failed States by Noam Chomsky. If the latter two-thirds of the book are as good as the first third, then I expect it will end up being my favorite (so far) of the books I've read by Chomsky. I wasn't expecting to like it much, since the back cover referred to it as a "follow-up to...Hegemony or Survival." I thought that might be the publisher's euphemism for a book full of afterthoughts and tired rehashings that piggy-backs on the success of a prior book. But this book stands on its own, and it has more of those snippy little comments that Chomsky makes when he's criticizing news, legal opinions, and other distortions (of common sense, moral principles, or whatever else) served up by the establishment. It also has a lot of good information--and is thus quickly filling up with Book Darts.

I found out that reverius42 is moving into my neighborhood. I saw him as I was leaving my house and spoke to him briefly.

The projector project is coming along pretty well. I rented a ten-foot step ladder from Arizona Cine Equipment this morning. I expect to be finished (or at least almost finished) by mid-afternoon.
